Pres. Trump To Cap Refugee Quota To Less Than 50K

The Trump administration is looking to make history when it comes to immigration.
The president is considering lowering the number of refugees admitted into the country to fewer than 50,000, which would make it the lowest number since 1980.
This comes as an October 1 deadline to set a limit draws near.
The Refugee Act of 1980 requires the current commander and chief to set an annual limit each fall.
The U.S. reached its refugee cap of 50,000 people in July, and since then only those with immediate family members in the U.S. have been eligible for the refugee program.
The impending decision follows a recent ruling by the Supreme Court to uphold President Trump’s travel ban on most refugees.
