We got to the bottom of the K8500 not playing this movie-or any recent Studio Canal discs. They contacted myself and my friend who both have the K8500 player. The issue is the player won’t recognise the international menu screen which is right at the start when trying to load this disc, and other studio canal discs like Cliffhanger for example. However, there is a way around it, and it works!

When the disc is trying to load and you get the ‘white frozen screen’, wait for the ‘white bar’ to load in the middle of the screen, which takes about 10 or so seconds (don’t be impatient as it silll show up!), then click OK on the k8500 remote. It will then play!
You just wouldn’t know to do this- we didn’t! Now you can enjoy the movie. Hope this helps guys. I have contacted Samsung head office and they are apparently letting their headquarters in Korea to do an update to fix this on this player.
