Couple Crash Land in Soybean Field After Bird Collision

Tracy T Hundley was flying an experimental aircraft with his wife Wendi, when they got into difficulty in Franklin County, Illinois. In the video uploaded to YouTube Hundley can be heard saying to his wife, “hold on Wendi we are going to crash!” after their aircraft sustained a bird strike – a collision between an airplane and a bird. When he heard a “very bad vibration from engine” Hundley informed Storyful that he aimed the damaged machine for a nearby soybean field and managed to avoid a copse of trees and the busy Highway 37 below.
