Over de fundamentele 'dark sides' en ethische kwesties wordt nadrukkelijk gezwegen. Welke impact heeft die nieuwe digitale infrastructuur op ons dagelijks leven? Welke effecten heeft dit op onze privacy, gezondheid, veiligheid en democratische invloed?
Veel tijd om over deze vragen na te denken hebben we niet. Steeds meer devices en apparatuur zijn namelijk al 'smart'. Ze zijn uitgerust met sensoren, iets van een besturingssysteem en mogelijkheden tot het zenden en ontvangen van data. En aangezien in 2020 het draadloze 5G datanetwerk operationeel moet zijn betekent dit draadloze en real-time dataoverdracht met nagenoeg glasvezel snelheid. Dit geeft een enorme push aan een nieuwe realiteit waar cash geld uiteindelijk zal verdwijnen en de personal adds op elke straathoek zijn te vinden. Kortom: radicale veranderingen die zich momenteel (ongemerkt) razendsnel voltrekken.

Met deze docu bieden we een tegenwicht wat bijdraagt om een realistischer beeld van deze ontwikkelingen te krijgen. Dit onderwerp is echter zo veelomvattend, ingrijpend en urgent, dat we naast de documentaire ook dit thema letterlijk op de agenda willen zetten. Daarom is het mogelijk dat organisaties, opleidingen en stichtingen een beroep op ons kunnen doen om 'live' vertoningen te organiseren met aansluitend interactief debat.

Unfortunately we don’t have much time to think about these questions. More and more devices are already 'smart'. They are equipped with sensors, some sort of an operating system and possibilities for sending and receiving data. And since the wireless 5G data network must be operational by 2020, this means wireless and real-time data transfer with virtually optical fibre speed. This gives a huge push to a new reality where cash will eventually disappear and personalized adds on every street corner. In short: radical changes that are currently happening (mostly unnoticeably) at lightning speed.
#Digitropolis focuses exclusively on the 'dark side' of this techno stampede, which devours billions and billions of dollars/euros. As such WeAreChangeRotterdam / WeAreChange.NL offers a counter perspective that contributes to a more realistic picture of these developments.
However, this subject is so comprehensive, far-reaching and urgent that, in addition to the documentary, we also want to put this theme literally on the agenda. That is why it is possible that organizations, educational centres and foundations can contact us to organize 'live' screenings with an interactive debate.
