For those who keep associating narcissism with excessive pride or vanity, you should see it instead as an extremely envious thing without conscience that needs to elevate itself above those inciting its envy. That's the beginning of it, anyway, in terms of how it's used in all these survivor videos.
What usually happens is the malignant creature attempts to feed on and extract from the soul of the target. Because there's no conscience, there's no possibility of any sympathy, and there are no limits to the tactics the narcissist employs. No limits except fear of exposure and consequences.
I use IT versus he/she/they because it helps not seeing them as whole people, always remembering that they're wired in a special way and have malignant instead of healthy, wholesome drives. They love sabotage and destruction, and they always have to be first best. Their competitiveness is off the charts.
This is what allows them to abuse their own children, rewarding with evil the child's love and good intentions. The child on the receiving end is going be very confused about what is wrong with their parent(s), and the narcissist(s) will facilitate and exploit this confusion.
Contrary to the mental health professional advising caution about diagnosing people with this, you need to figure out ASAP if this is what you're dealing with because these creatures are both incurable and highly dangerous.
Remember many mental health professionals are narcissists feeding on the emotions and pain of their clients. Like being a genital mutilator, or a mohel, the psyche industry is an ideal profession for a covert sadist.
One of the favorite tactics of these abusers is to feign help and support for the vulnerable, so you'll actually find them gravitating to things like social work and healthcare.
