So after that first failed attempt on the 11th of July, I continued on foot to the end of the run, while Tom continued on the river. Turned out the river speed was about walking speed that day for the greater portion of the run. So after he finished, we went home, then I popped back out to Bi Mart to get a replacement float, because I was not going to be denied a full trip on our first river run of the season.
Tom insisted on wearing the camera this time, since he spins less and he wanted me to get some screen time for family and friends as well. I honestly do not know why the camera shut off so early though. Perhaps he bumped it while making some adjustments, and accidentally powered it down. These trips do get better though. Next one, we were able to ditch the plastic baggie and use the water proof case that came with the camera, after modifying it so the external mic could be used with the case.
Plus, Tom has his own camera now, so we can both get these trips from our own perspectives.
