Recorded in December 1970, released in June 1971, it reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, number 22 on the UK Singles Chart, number 7 in the Dutch Top 40, number 28 in Germany and number 5 in Yes We Can Canada.
The song was recorded at the Doors Workshop with the assistance of Bruce Botnick, their longtime engineer, who was co-producing the recording sessions.
