In a bid to combat the alarming rates of maternal mortality caused by preeclampsia, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine, launched a 10-day activism campaign at Kawempe Referral Hospital. 
According to recent statistics, on average, 150 mothers are admitted to the hospital due to preeclampsia, with 10 succumbing to the conditionPre-eclampsia, currently the second leading cause of death among pregnant women in Uganda, accounts for 15% of maternal deaths, as reported by the Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response in 2020/202.
Despite affecting one in every 12 pregnancies, many expectant mothers remain unaware of the disease's existence, emphasized Dr. Diana Atwine in an interview with UBC.

H.E. Kaguta Museveni, President and Commander-in-Chief of the UPDF, appointed Maj Gen Richard Otto as the new Commander of the Mountain Division and Operation Shuuja. Maj Gen Dick Olum has been reassigned to the South Sudan Stabilisation Mechanism, where Maj Gen Otto previously represented Uganda.

The International Centre for Research on Women (ICRW) has reaffirmed its dedication to utilizing data for the empowerment of women and girls.
Despite the inherent challenges in data collection and utilization, Kirabo Suubi, a Gender Economist from ICRW, expressed optimism about the census data's potential to advance gender equality in Uganda through evidence-based research.
Evidence-based data will play a crucial role in understanding and addressing gaps in gender inequity.

The Acting Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen. Tumusiime Katsigazi has pledged tighter security in Greater Luweero region to curb the escalating theft of livestock and land grabbing.
 
The Acting IGP Uganda Police Force Tumusiime Katsigazi was chairing an Inter-Agency Security meeting to stamp out livestock theft from the region.

This was at Luweero Diocese Guest House in Luweero town, Luweero District.

Government through the Ministry of Agriculture, animal industry and fisheries has sent 90,000 doses of FMD vaccine and 260 freezers to 23 districts.

The vaccine is being used to vaccinate livestock in districts which have been under quarantine due to Foot and Mouth disease.

An inter-ministerial task force for the implementation of the Institute for Women's Health (IWH) Protego Women's Optimal Health and Education Frameworks, has agreed to create a standalone programme or project to promote women's health and strengthen the family in Uganda. This will be coordinated by the Office of the First Lady.
Key players from institutions related to women's health and family strengthening were in attendance. These included representatives from the Health, Education, Ethics and Integrity, and Gender Labour and Social Development Ministries.
launched globally in February 2023, The Protego programme will focus on improving the quality of education, public health, and social development interventions for women, girls and families.
The Office of the First Lady will implement the programme in collaboration with government ministries, the Washington D.C.-based Institute for Women's Health, and other like-minded stakeholders.

The Minister of State for Finance Planning and Economic Development General duties Henry Musasiza has challenged communities to embrace self-help projects aimed at improving their standards of living.
Minister Musasizi was officiating the campaign to raise 50M/= to put up road signs within Akright City Housing Estate on Entebbe Road, Bwebajja.

The Uganda Bureau of Statics UBOS has called upon town clerks and other respective local leaders to submit lists of trained enumerators and other support teams for allowance remittances.
Dr. Albert Byamugisha the UBOS board chairperson says the move to expedite the census exercise targets to resolve early technical glitches moral boost enumerators towards work.
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics has owned the early technical glitches in the ongoing census exercise and cited unauthorized logins by unrecruited individuals.
