Lots of scrubbing is involved with cleaning the pin connector. I use fast strokes for a considerable amount of time as the friction helps melt away deep imprinted dirt/grime.

If this process doesn't work for you there is a faze 2 cleaning process for exceptionally dirty/ corroded pin connectors.
WARNING: Some pin connectors cannot be brought back to life as the corrosion runs too deep for any amount of cleaning to help.
