KTM Freeride E-XC generator charging is very easy if you have a few basic bits of information! Generator charging a KTM Freeride battery doesn't require an electrician, fancy tools, electrical meters or anything else beyond some basic know-how.
Generator charging the KTM Freeride E-XC battery is actually quite fast. In fact, it charges at the same speed as the 240v plug at your house. You can expect to be able to fully charge your Freeride E-XC between motos on a race day with a Generator. 1h:15 for 80% charge. With fewer classes and shorter wait times on a practice day, you may have to skip one practice session to be able to fully charge to 100%. The Freeride E-XC requires 1h:45min to fully charge on "Fast Charge" from dead (0-100%) with a generator or your house 230V.
The KTM Freeride will last 30-35 minutes on a motocross track with a faster rider. You may need to let your KTM Freeride battery cool between riding and charging. Remove the battery and place it in the shade. You can charge while out of the bike remember. Clean up the Freeride while you wait for the battery to charge. Lots of people are going to want to look at it!
The connection required to charge your KTM Freeride E-XC from a generator is a NEMA L14-30P plug. This connection plugs into the generator's 240v AC output socket and is common for motorhomes. The factory supplied KTM Freeride E-XC plug for the USA is a NEMA L6-20P.
"P" is Prongs and "R" receptacle. The factory KTM charging cord is a 220V German Schuko plug. This standard in some countries and plugs right into European 220v household outlets.
In the USA, the Schuko connector plugs into a cord KTM provides. That adapts it to the American 3 prong L6-20P. The 20 stands for 20Amps and the (P) means it has prongs.
The adapter you will most likely have to buy for generator charging your Electric Freeride is the L14-30P (4-Prong) to L6-20R (3 prong receptacle).
