Lookin Out My Back Door was partly written for John Fogerty's son Josh, who at the time was three years old. Fogerty said: "I knew he would love it if he heard me on the radio singing - doot doot doo, lookin' out my back door." In the song lyrics there is a reference to a parade passing by which John says was inspired by a Dr. Seuss book that he read as a kid titled To Think (That) I Saw It On Mulberry Street.
Much like The Beatles "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds," many people thought Lookin Out My Back Door was about drugs when it was really an innocent song inspired by a child. According to the drug theory, the "Flying Spoon" was a cocaine spoon, and the crazy animal images were an acid trip. This was even less plausible than the Beatles misinterpretation, since Creedence Clearwater Revival was never into psychedelic drugs.
This is played in the film The Big Lebowski.
The album cover shows Creedence Clearwater Revival's rehearsal space, which is not their original digs: they started rehearsing in a shed in the backyard of their drummer Doug Clifford's house. Clifford once said it was "better than working in a factory," so their rehearsal rooms became known as "The Factory." Clifford's nickname was Cosmo, so this space was known as "Cosmo's Factory."
John Fogerty played a bit of dobro on Lookin Out My Back Door. He's seen holding the instrument on the cover of the 1969 album Green River, but "Lookin' Out My Back Door" is the only time he played it on a Creedence song. In 1993, he bought a dobro at a vintage guitar show and set out to master the instrument, playing it for hours on end and using it on his 1997 solo album Blue Moon Swamp. He got some help along the way from Jerry Douglas, a preeminent dobro player who was part of Alison Krauss' band Union Station.
This is often believed to be about the Vietnam War, as it referred to a "jungle" and was released in 1970. The fact that previous CCR songs such as "Who'll Stop the Rain?" and "Fortunate Son" were protests of the Vietnam War added to this theory. In response, John Fogerty said: "I think a lot of people thought that because of the times, but I was talking about America and the proliferation of guns, registered and otherwise. I'm a hunter and I'm not antigun, but I just thought that people were so gun-happy - and there were so many guns uncontrolled that it really was dangerous, and it's even worse now. It's interesting that it has taken 20-odd years to get a movement on that position."

Beggars Banquet is a studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released on 6 December 1968 by Decca Records in the United Kingdom and London Records in the United States. The Eiger is a 3,967-metre (13,015 ft) mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It is the easternmost peak of a ridge crest that extends across the Mönch to the Jungfrau at 4,158 m (13,642 ft), constituting one of the most emblematic sights of the Swiss Alps. This mountain range and surrounding valleys are commonly known as the Jungfrau region.
Every Eiger Experience is a surreal sensation ... having a plan the night before, being excited, nervous, getting up early, paying and taking the gondola, hiking, climbing and scrambling up the West Face for hours and jumping into that cold North Face, leaving the exit at about 3700m with your buddy and your wings on and flying down to civilisation, back to Grindelwald. Up there the wind is blowing, it ´s cool, even on a hot day like this. Down at the landing you start sweating and people come to you and start asking questions - Where do come from? Did you jump from the Eiger?? - as if they´d never have seen a wingsuiter before. And all in a sudden you turn into an Alien, asking yourself wtf am I doing here?! - or into a Rockstar and rock The Show. Hier gibt es nun den ersten Teil der Trilogie "Weltkriegslieder", die an das bekannte Buch mit zahlreichen Gedichten anknüpft und deren Texte, verschiedenster Autoren, vertont. Das Ganze ist ein Projekt von EICHENLAUB MIT SCHWERTERN, die bereits für ihre Konzeptalben bekannt sind und sich hier eine wirklich lohnenswerte Aufgabe gestellt haben. Für den ersten Teil haben sie sich STURMREBELLEN mit ins Boot geholt und beide liefern mal wieder richtig ab und zeigen, dass man sich auch nach so vielen Jahren des Schaffens noch steigern kann. Beide haben je 5 Lieder beigesteuert und die 10 Lieder haben eine Spielzeit von über 40 Minuten. Hier geht es absolut abwechslungsreich zur Sache - mal ruhiger, mal härter, werden die Stücke in musikalischer Perfektion und gesanglicher Spitzenleistung dargeboten. Bei EICHENLAUB MIT SCHWERTERN kommen wieder drei Stimmen zum Einsatz, denn neben Ralf und Wiesel wurde wieder die Stimme von Blutbanner für ein komplettes Lied zur Rate gezogen.
Das Ganze kommt in passender Aufmachung mit 12-seitigem Beiheft in der Optik eines edlen Buches und wenn irgendwann der dritte Teil erscheint, soll es dann noch einen Pappschuber geben, in dem alle drei CDs Aufbewahrt werden können. Neben der normalen Auflage gibt es ein DigiPack mit geänderter Aufmachung, limitiert und handnummeriert auf 300 Stück.
Many of you will remember a song from long ago where the singer reels off a long list of all the places he’s been to. It was written by an Australian called Geoff Mack and recorded by a host of singers including Johnny Cash. A few years ago, I decided to write a version from the other side, sung by an old boy who’d never ever left his village. I called it ‘The Artlenock Song’.
I showed it to my friend Nick Evans who recorded it and sent it in to Bernie Keith’s Radio Northampton show. The song was very popular with Bernie’s listeners and he played it every day for a couple of weeks. I have a friend in Sydney who knew Geoff Mack and he told him about my version before he died, and this song comes with his approval.
