03.11.2021 - 06:50 o'clock Chemnitz mourns the loss of Dr. Thomas Jendges (55). The head of the Chemnitz hospital fell from the hospital building on Flemmingstraße on Tuesday morning. He died on the spot from his serious injuries. "It is with great dismay that I have just learned of the tragic death of Dr. Thomas Jendges. Yesterday evening (Monday, editor's note) we exchanged views for a long time about the difficult corona situation," said Chemnitz Mayor Sven Schulze (50, SPD) on Tuesday morning. Dr. Jendges had only been appointed managing director of East Germany's largest municipal hospital in April and had been the sole managing director since 1 October. He leaves behind a wife and a son.

The reasons for the accident are still unclear. So far, however, everything points to a tragic suicide. Sven Schulze declared on Tuesday afternoon that the Chemnitz Clinic was still able to act despite the tragic death of Dr. Thomas Jendges. Schulze: "The expanded management team will manage the business in the coming days."
