Yesterday evening (Monday, editor's note) we exchanged views for a long time about the difficult corona situation," said Chemnitz Mayor Sven Schulze (50, SPD) on Tuesday morning. Dr. Jendges had only been appointed managing director of East Germany's largest municipal hospital in April and had been the sole managing director since 1 October. He leaves behind a wife and a son.

The reasons for the accident are still unclear. So far, however, everything points to a tragic suicide.
