Are you looking to download the blockchain for the privacy coin Monero to your hard drive and establish a remote node connection from your wallet on Tails OS? The Monero GUI (Graphical User Interface) is our favourite Monero wallet to use on Tails over Tor because it just works. Even better still is the ability to save the wallet, daemon and wallet keys to the Persistent folder to re-load at a later time without needing to re-install it.

In this video, we show you how to configure a Monero daemon to download the Monero blockchain to an external hard drive from scratch, how to download and install the Monero GUI .tar.bz file from getmonero.org for Linux operating systems (on Tails OS - Debian), how to download and verify the signing key, hashes and binary for the zip file, and how to set up the Monero GUI to connect and synchronise to your downloaded Monero blockchain via the daemon.
