Nout Wellink (71) was member of the board of DNB for almost 30 years, his successor in 2011 being Klaas Knot. At the the moment, he is only commissioner at the Chinese Statebank Bank of China. After the 2008 crisis he was, also by Willem Middelkoop, held responsible for having failed in the supervision of the financial sector. According to Willem, the watchdog had become a lap dog.
