Legends of the Ancients
Selene is the Goddess of the Moon. Her name could be interpreted to mean "Feminine Light". The Moon is an often used symbol for femininity in pagan mythologies because the moon goes through monthly phases. The companion to her is the Sun, the symbol of masculinity, power, kingship, and authority, who chases forever through the Heavens after his love.

The legend of Jason and the Argonauts is likely a faint memory of a time when the Hittite Empire was weakening, and their vassals in Mysia and Troy could not keep the Greeks out of the Black Sea on their own. Thus, the Greeks were able to obtain their own tin, the precious key ingredient to make bronze. Before the Argonauts, the Greeks had likely paid steep prices to Trojan and Hittite merchants for their tin. By ~1300 BC or so Hercules seems to attack the Trojans and Mysians, holding the way open for Jason and his fleet of raiders/merchants to go east.

This is the story of Danaus, retold to be a bit more historical rather than mythological. Extrapolating the legend we could propose the sons of Belos (Ba'al-os, or "Lord of the House") were merchant princes rather than Kings of Egypt and Libya.
I have altered character names to be more archaic and pre-Greek:

Lynceus = Lynkeu
