The historic notion of blood sacrifice in the Irish republican movement is a controversial one both historically and ideologically. Many today claim that the claims that the men of 1916 willingly and knowingly sacrificed their lives for the cause of Irish independence are false and a-historical, others still decry it as a reactionary and barbaric act unbefitting the left wing bonafides of the post war republican splinter movements.
This stream will aim at exploring the degree to which the leaders of the Rising indeed saw themselves as committing to an act of self sacrifice by looking at their own writings as a means of determining their state of mind.

Germany Must Perish!!! was a pro intervention propaganda piece written and published by Theodore Kaufman in New York in 1941. It gives us a snapshot of how some actors saw the war with Germany and provides us with some striking historical insight. Kaufman's goal is world peace and brotherly cooperation between nations, his proposed methods however were rather crass even by the standards of his day, as the title would suggest.

The substance of this recording is the complicated nature of Nietzsche's views of the Jewish people. Nietzsche is often cited by Walter Kaufman and other liberal re-imaginers of the philosopher as a philosemetic, individualist and anti nationalist. This is entirely lacking in a comprehensive understanding of Nietzsche's thought and is a conclusion which could only be come to on the basis of scant and non chronological reading. Subsequently, this is a discussion of Nietzschean morality in as much as it is his relationship to European Jewry.
I believe that Nietzsche's philosophy is mandatory reading for all dissident right wing thinkers, for everyone who rejects the individualism and decadence of modern society, for everyone who believes that modernity and liberal democracy must be destroyed in order for European civilization to prosper. All nationalists should hear the philosophy of the man who rejected the entirety of Christian and modern civilization and all of it's shibbolleths.

However with only a few minor exceptions, it is just as revolutionary as the France Burke, a foundational conservative thinker, famously derided. Modern day conservatism say nothing of the church and throne and of the traditional hierarchies it supposedly defends. Today the conservative movement defends the 20th century cultural revolution against the postmodern cultural revolution. They will conserve nothing but what their supposed enemies tell them to. In the words of Justin Barrett, this is more rightly termed the conservatism of retreat.
