Taking the black pill is one of the worst things you can do for your mental health. As much as I understand how some folks get there, it's important to get out of there and fast. Let's talk about some reasons why, and some strategies to counter it.

The practice of psychology can still be plenty useful for men. But you have to know how to look to avoid the therapists that have been ideologically captured.

Sorry for my cold-stricken voice in this one. Today we're covering the APA Guidelines for Men and Boys, Guideline 4. It purports to know all about the harmful ways men relate to each other and tells you how you can help men to "be better". Ugh.

A little bonus video for the month (I'm still putting out another one--this one won't be going on Patreon). This is the speech I gave locally for our Canadian Centre for Men and Families Town Hall event on International Men's Day.

The message behind the speech was talking about how to specifically tailor a mental health approach to respect men's specific needs.

It's not interesting visually, sorry. I don't do PowerPoint. Feel free to put it on and then go do other things, you won't be missing anything other than me talking lol.

A continuation of the previous video covering the ridiculous "Internalized Sexism Inventory" and explaining a little bit about how and why misusing this word in this way can result in some problems down the road.

EDIT: Yeeeees I made an error in the end because said friend had testicular cancer, not prostate cancer. I am a gomer. But THE POINT STILL STANDS DAMMIT.

Sorry for the absence, guys. Things have been absolutely nuts for me. I've actually been working on multiple scripts at a time which is probably a bad idea in terms of getting videos out. But seriously, I could scarcely resist switching my course when I encountered this gem of a website in my class: http://www.culturalbridgestojustice.org/resources/written/internalized-sexism-inventory

PRE-EMPTIVE NOTE: The banter with my husband in this is not reflective of our actual real life interactions xD. It's just for making fun of the article writer and he helped me script it and come up with funny ideas.

I saw this article and I couldn't resist tearing it apart. Sorry for the long absence. Real life is keeping me very busy at the moment. Hope you enjoy!

Patreon Message: So, I'm still a little bashful putting up a Patreon link, but I'm doing it because a few people have asked me. I recorded this video before I made it, so I didn't advertise it. If I advertise it in my next video, it will be the only time I do so. I don't want to sound like I'm shilling. As always, this is something I enjoy doing and will continue to do (when I have time) regardless of any donations. Still, I appreciate the gesture very much.

a) This didn't turn out to be short at all
b) This is mostly unscripted so that's why I sound like I'm spilling my spaghetti half the time. I wanted to get this out quickly so I used the "Eff it, we'll do it live" school of thought. ;)

Just wanted to provide a less damning perspective on counselling theories. The next video will be more entertaining, I promise. :)

I have finally finished my first class, so now I have a month before the next one starts. Now is the time to get out some of the videos I've been working on.

I did a video talking briefly about this stuff on the Honey Badger Radio channel, but I really wanted to do one for my own channel and subscribers. More people deserve to know about this sort of thing so that they can do their damnedest to avoid it. Therapy has been proven to be helpful to a lot of people, but this sort of garbage shouldn't be called "therapy" at all. I have seen many examples of the harm this stuff can cause, and it infuriates me that it hasn't been called out for the harm that it is. Well, here's me, calling it out and showing you guys exactly why I have such an issue with it.

Just a quick little rant about the Me Too campaign and the fallout I've been seeing as a result of it.

Had a little bit of spare time between the mountains of schoolwork to vent about this. Yay!

I hope you can understand why this video has taken me so long. I've been very busy with a lot of things in my life and now this whole demonitization thing has really taken the wind out of my sails when it comes to making videos. I'll try not to stop, but honestly, with everything going on, it's going to be a lot harder.

I got the first text for my degree, and I discovered some... unfortunate things as early as the first page. This is gonna be a good time...

Whether the next video will be this or the next misuse of words thing, we'll see. Depends on how much BS I have to wade through in my classes. ;)

I'm sorry, guys. I don't mean to come across like a whiner, but I was really frustrated by all of this stuff and I didn't really have a lot of time to dedicate to a proper "Misuse of Words" video this week (You can think of this as an unofficial misuse of the word "Hate" if you like). I'll try to have one out later next week or early-next next week.

Welcome to the next video in my Misuse of Words series. In this video I begin to explore the use of the word "phobia" and how, even if we accept the fact that it has deviated from its original concept of an "irrational fear", it is still often over-applied as, a lot of the time, people aren't actually being hateful or intolerant.

The next video in the series will cover Homo- and Trans- phobia, though I can't guarantee that'll be the next thing I put out. I have a lot of videos I've been planning. It also might take me a little longer than usual as I really want to get some new panels drawn. I'd hate for you guys to get bored of the same old expressions. ;)

The second video in my Misuse of Words series. This one is a little bit less technical and more philosophical, but it's a topic that tends to not really have a concrete answer, or at least not one that everyone can agree on. I think one thing that we can all agree on is that Islam is not a freaking race, and we should stop acting like criticizing Islamic tenets is tantamount to racism.

We don't have to say that every little bit of criticism is racist, and we don't have to say that every single Muslim is a terrorist and should all be deported. There's a middle ground in there somewhere, and I'm sure we could find it if we looked.

I'm in the process of working on the other half of my racism video, but while I was volunteering the other day, I tacked out a quick rant on an image that has been busting my balls lately. I figured, while I'm working on the other one, I could put this one out to tide people over! Just a silly little thing that I hope you enjoy.

Sorry that it took me a while to get this out. There's actually quite a lot to go over in how this one single word is being misused. Hell, this video is only part of it. I still have an entire other segment to go over in which it's being misused. I'll try to have part 2 out sometime next week. I don't like missing weeks to upload, but I've been crazy busy so it's hard to find time to do everything I want!

A brief introduction to my Misuse of Words series in which I'll be covering several examples of words that the authoritarian left has decided to take into their own hands and redefine/alter/shred until they're mere shadows of their former selves.

I think this is an extremely important thing to examine in greater depth because it is causing legitimate problems in the world, even if it might not initially seem that way. Also, I think that a lot of people have briefly gone over some examples, but I strongly believe it will be a good thing to create dedicated videos intended to examine words in specific and to provide examples of how their misuse is causing problems. So that will be my intention for the rest of this series!

I'm the Prim Reaper, and I'm here to kill some ideological nonsense.

I'm a Master of Counselling graduate and an aspiring men's counsellor and psychologist. Although my main focus and primary area of study is in men's issues, I take a lot of interest in the ways that certain ideologies are impacting our public and political discourse. I have set out to challenge a lot of these topics wherever I can, because far too often I feel that people are afraid to speak their minds against it. This has led to a lot of people who feel they can bully others into agreeing with them regardless of what they say.
