Both groups of men are referred to in a subtitle as "worshipers of The Cross belonging to the hostile Ethiopian church".

♱ Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. delivered a powerful pro-Artsakh message yesterday in a statement and video shared live with Armenian Americans gathered at the White House for a protest demanding justice for the Armenian Genocide, organized by the Armenian Youth Federation (AYF).

Kennedy delivered a videotaped address on Armenian Remembrance Day to the demonstrators in which he called for tough U.S. sanctions against Azerbaijan, denounced the Azeris for taking Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh “hostage,” and demanded a right of return for all of the Armenian refugees forced from the region in 2023.

“Though today we commemorate the 109th anniversary of the beginning of the Armenian Genocide, the plight of the Armenians is not over – and we must recommit ourselves to end the ethnic cleansing and defend Armenians’ right to self-determination,” Kennedy said.

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) said Biden was “shamefully silent” about the conquest of Artsakh, which the committee referred to as “genocide.” Worse, it said this genocide was a crime Biden “actively armed and morally emboldened.”

“He’s using remembrance of a past genocide (by Turkey) to cover up a current genocide (by Azerbaijan),” ANCA charged.

The ANCA gave Biden only tepid praise for recognizing the Armenian Genocide in 2021 because he only did so “after Armenians worldwide, after decades of work, got the ball to the one yard line – via both house of Congress, all 50 states, countless municipalities, and multiple NATO allies.”

“It’s not that Biden was a bystander to Azerbaijan’s genocide of Artsakh’s Christian Armenians. He was an upstander – but on the side of genocide. He armed and emboldened Azerbaijan as it systematically blockaded, terrorized & ethnically cleansed indigenous, innocent civilians,” the group said.

ANCA’s program director for Washington DC, Alex Galitsky, credited Biden for being “the first President to recognize the Armenian Genocide” but said that made it all the more outrageous that just one day before that landmark recognition, Biden “reauthorized military aid to Azerbaijan – a decision that would embolden Baku’s genocidal regime.”

Galitsky said Biden “recognized one genocide only to enable another.” He also accused Biden of turning a “blind eye” to Azerbaijan’s punishing blockade of the Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh before the final attack began. The blockade caused a massive humanitarian crisis and was denounced by some observers as an attempt to use “starvation as a means of genocide”

Galitsky was also unsparing in his criticism of Biden’s predecessor, and possible successor, Donald Trump for sending “millions in military aid to Azerbaijan before the 2020 Artsakh War.” He expressed a preference for dark-horse candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. as “the only candidate calling for accountability for Azerbaijan’s genocide of Artsakh.”

Biden did indeed keep money flowing to Azerbaijan, even after it fought a war against Armenia.

✈️An Ethiopian Airlines flight landed in Beirut on Thursday with the name of the Israeli city of Tel Aviv emblazoned on its fuselage, prompting a rebuke from Lebanese authorities.

Lebanon is technically in a state of war with neighbouring Israel.

Lebanon's directorate for civil aviation said the words Tel Aviv were in small letters and that the airline explained its practice was to mark new planes with the name of their first destination after entering service.

The Civil Aviation Authority asked the airline to remove the city's name from its fuselage before departing Beirut.

"The company was also asked to take necessary measures to ensure that there is no logo related to the Israeli enemy entity on the company's aircraft before landing at Rafic Hariri International Airport," the authority added.

"The Ethiopian company explained that it is accustomed to noting the name of the airport where the plane lands for the first time after its purchase, which is what happened with the aircraft," the directorate's statement explained.

The company said that it did not notice this before bringing the plane to Beirut.

"The directorate requested the company to remove the phrase from the plane's body before allowing it to take off from Beirut, which actually happened. It also requested the company to take the necessary measures to ensure that there are no logos related to an Israeli entity on the company's planes before landing at Beirut International Airport," the statement concluded.

Last May, Lebanese officials banned the Cypriot airline TUS AIR from flying in Lebanese airspace or landing at Beirut International Airport after it came to light that an Israeli corporation owns shares in the airline.

In 1955, Lebanon passed a law boycotting contact with Israelis or economic relations with Israeli companies.

The law prohibits any person or entity from having contact with Israelis or persons residing in Israel. It also prohibits all types of transactions — commercial, financial or otherwise — with Israel. Violation of the law is punishable by three to ten years of hard labor.

Additionally, Article 285 of the Penal Code punishes commercial transactions between a Lebanese citizen or resident of Lebanon and a national or resident of an enemy country.

Lebanon has never had diplomatic relations with Israel and regards it as an enemy state. Lebanese citizens are forbidden from contact with Israelis.

The current situation is particularly tense, with Israel and Lebanese armed group Hezbollah having been engaged in daily cross-border attacks in south Lebanon since October 8.

Hezbollah, also a political group, says it is carrying out the attacks in support of its embattled Palestinian ally Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Hezbollah said on Tuesday it had launched drone attacks on two Israeli military bases north of the city of Acre, its deepest attack into Israel since hostilities broke out.

Over the weekend, several hundred people were infected with a gastrointestinal virus in a festival tent on the Cannstatter Wasen. So far, 430 people have reported gastrointestinal complaints. A spokesman for the municipality announced this on Thursday. There were 400 cases last Saturday and 30 on Sunday.

All those affected visited the same festival tent at the weekend and then complained of vomiting, nausea and diarrhea. Torrential rains across the United Arab Emirates prompted flight cancellations, forced schools to shut and brought traffic to a standstill.

The floods came after one of the worst storms in decades. The government had seeded clouds in the preceding days, though meteorologists said it was unlikely that had a significant impact on the rainfall. The UAE has been carrying out seeding operations since 2002 to address water security issues, even though the lack of drainage in many areas can trigger flooding.

The Gulf state’s National Center of Meteorology dispatched seeding planes from Al Ain airport on Monday and Tuesday to take advantage of convective cloud formations, Ahmed Habib, a specialist meteorologist, said Tuesday. The NCM on Wednesday said the seeding had taken place on Sunday and Monday, and not on Tuesday. Cloud seeding involves implanting chemicals and tiny particles — often natural salts such as potassium chloride — into the atmosphere to coax more rain from clouds.

The unnamed country was the United Arab Emirates, which had begun an ambitious cloud-seeding program, injecting chemicals into clouds to try to force precipitation. Iran’s suspicions are not surprising, given its tense relations with most Persian Gulf nations, but the real purpose of these efforts is not to steal water, but simply to make it rain on parched lands.

As the Middle East and North Africa dry up, countries in the region have embarked on a race to develop the chemicals and techniques that they hope will enable them to squeeze rain drops out of clouds that would otherwise float fruitlessly overhead.

An outspoken Israeli professor was blocked from entering a portion of the Columbia University campus and Jewish members of Congress demanded action from the administration on Monday as pro-Palestinian protests against Israel continued to roil the Manhattan university.

Shai Davidai, an Israeli assistant professor at Columbia University’s business school, had announced on social media that he planned to enter the university’s main campus on Monday morning to hold a “peaceful sit-in” in the area of pro-Palestinian demonstrators who have occupied the campus lawn since last week.

But the university deactivated Davidai’s Columbia ID card, preventing him from accessing the main campus, which is currently restricted only to those who hold valid Columbia IDs. Davidai teaches at the business school, a separate area from the main campus, and still has access to that location.

The university’s chief operating officer, Cas Holloway, met Davidai at the entrance to tell him he would not be allowed in.

About an hour earlier, Davidai had posted a message he had received from Holloway, saying he would be allowed to hold a counter-protest at an area that is separate from the encampment, with the protection of public safety officers. Decrying the offer as a “continuation of six months of gaslighting and degrading the Jewish community,” Davidai rejected the offer, tweeting, “F— YOU CAS.”

“This is 1938,” he wrote in another post, referring to the dismissal of Jewish staff from universities in Nazi Germany in the years leading up to the Holocaust.

At the university gates, Davidai, who has emerged as a vocal and controversial supporter of Jewish students on campus since shortly after Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel, addressed a crowd of people who had assembled there.

“I have not just a civil right as a Jewish person to be on campus, I have a right as a professor employed by the university to be on campus,” Davidai said at the entrance, as supporters shouted “shame” and students watched from inside the university fence. “Being Jewish in public has become a political statement,” Davidai said. “It’s not a privilege, it’s a right, and they’re not allowing me that right.”

The pro-Israel supporters appeared to be mostly older adults, not students. Many Jewish students had left campus due to safety concerns, Davidai said. Many had also headed home for the Passover holiday.

Connolly blasted Republicans advocating to address the southern border (the actual United States border) before considering foreign aid – a position long held by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) before he suspiciously changed his mind after a February 28, 2024, White House visit.

“Some say, ‘Well, we have to deal with our border first,'” Connolly said from the House floor. “The Ukrainian Russian border is our border!”

Republicans, exasperated after months of fighting Ukraine aid only to be betrayed by their own Speaker, pointed out the ridiculousness of Connolly’s screed.

“The America Last Uniparty in a nutshell,” Rep. Andrew Clyde lamented in response. Clyde shared the astounding video on X.

Connolly’s geography lesson didn’t end there. “It’s the border between depraved autocracy and freedom-loving people seeking our democratic way of life,” he continued. “Do we have a stake in that outcome? Yes, undeniably yes.”

But his claim was not “undeniable” to the majority of Republicans, with 112 voting against the Ukraine aid and only 101 for it. Johnson, siding with Connolly and the other Democrats, opposed the clear majority of his party by supporting the bill, once again violating the Hastert Rule.

Not all America’s borders are equally deserving of attention in Connolly’s view, apparently. He voted against a bill Saturday to secure America’s southern border.

Because Johnson chose to move the border bill under suspension of the rules, it needed two-thirds support to pass. It received majority support but failed by a 215 to 199 vote.

Police in the French capital, Paris, on Wednesday cleared a major migrant squat in the southern suburb of Vitry-sur-Seine with just 100 days to go before the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The makeshift camp at the site of an abandoned bus company office had been home to roughly 450 migrants, mainly young men but including some mothers with small children as well.

Rights groups said most migrants there had documents and were awaiting social housing allotments.

Concerned aid organizations expressed fear that those now being ejected in an effort to "clean up" the city before the Olympics take place — from July 26 to August 11 — would not be able to find long-term housing assistance after being thrown out.

"The squat was the biggest in France. It doubled in size in one year because of the Olympics. Last year, authorities cleared out migrants from nearby the Olympic Village, and many displaced people came here," said Paul Alauzy of the humanitarian organization Medecins du Monde.

Authorities said the eviction operation will continue for several days. On Wednesday, some 300 people were forcibly removed from the site — 150 had left the night before. Many of those evicted were put onto buses to be brought to other cities around France.

Some groups also raised concerns that the move would negatively impact the well-being of school-aged children who are uprooted from the squat.

In his almost four-minute speech, Bishop Emmanuel reassured his followers he was improving.

Father Kochou also said the church "does not condone the activities" that took place outside the church following Bishop Emmanuel's attack.

"The unfortunate events which took place outside the church caused unnecessary delays and threats to both victims, paramedics and police," he said.

"There was a large contingent of people who were not members of the church who attended and caused a major disturbance."

There is a fire at Scranton Army Ammunition Plant. The Scranton Plant, a government owned contractor operated facility, is the main producer of 155mm artillery shell bodies in the United States.

One of two US plants that produce 155mm artillery shell bodies went up in flames yesterday. The plant also makes 105mm artillery projectiles, 120mm mortar rounds, 203mm naval shells, and a variety of smoke, illumination and incendiary rounds. The US has been trying to ramp up production of artillery ammunition to supply Ukraine.

Large jets looked more like boats moving through the flooded airport as water sprayed in their wake and waves rippled through the deep water.

Disruption to airport operations continued into Wednesday, with access roads blocked by flooding and multiple airlines including flag carrier Emirates reporting flight delays. Budget airline Flydubai canceled all flights until 10 a.m. local time Wednesday.

Emirates is suspending check-in for passengers departing Dubai from 8:00 a.m. local time on Wednesday until midnight on Thursday due to “operational challengers caused by bad weather and road conditions.”

Dubai International Airport also advised people to “NOT to come to the airport, unless absolutely necessary,” and said “flights continue to be delayed and diverted.”

The airline said passengers who were already in transit will continue to be processed but warned that customers can expect delays to departures and arrivals.

One stranded passenger told CNN he spent the night at the airport with hundreds of others after flying in from Hong Kong late Tuesday because there were no transport options out of the terminal.

“The airport is literally filling up and there’s nowhere for anyone to go,” said Bilal, 25, who only wished to be identified by his first name.
