Thomas, the name of PJ’s car, aka the ATU Headquarters, needs a little maintenance, but after they get taken cared of, we’ll be headed back on the road like the old days!
The ATU crew investigates the haunted Wildwood Sanitarium in Salamanca, New York.
Back in the early 20th century, Dr. Henderson and Dr. Perry opened the “only osteopathic infirmary and the first and only osteopathic institution in the state of New York” in 1906.
The building has had multiple uses over the past century and even sat vacant for many years, until Laurie Wagatha, whose interest in paranormal activity led her to purchasing the property, renovating it, and opening it up for paranormal research.
Wildwood Sanitarium, was established in 1909 as a sanitarium and bath house for treating all conditions except infectious and contagious diseases. It was intended as a treatment center for those seeking help for addictions such as alcohol, drug use, and more.
The sanitarium operated until 1923 when it was forced to open as a tuberculosis clinic. After that, it was operated as an osteopathic hospital clinic, utilizing modern therapies like UV light, electric battery baths, and bone stretching.
County records record that the building was built in 1900, but through renovation discovery, Laurie discovered the location used gas lighting and even recovered square and rectangular nails that date back to the 1800's.
The sanatarium was also owned by various families over time and was even once used for apartments.
Visitors have witnessed unexplained activities, including shadow figures and EVPs.
They hear various noises, such as balls rolling across the floor, doors opening and closing, footsteps, and knocking, and often leave with healing messages.
