One of the biggest issues is whether or not Jesus is God incarnate comes from the fact that the New Testament sometimes uses divine sounding language to describe him. Should this be considered proof that he is God incarnate? The problem is on of context. The New Testament was written in a First Century Jewish context. Within that context, we find that divine language works quite differently from today. In the Tanach, or Old Testament, the Hebrew words for God, such as "elohim", were often used to describe very human leaders in authority. They acted as God's representatives, but they were not God incarnate. This is why the use of divine language to describe Jesus is not proof of the New Testament authors' belief that he is God incarnate. We must give priority to the clear statements of who God is.

In the Torah, God heavily emphasized that the Jews were to only worship the God they experienced at Mount Sinai. Moses laid out the key identifying qualities of this God, that Jehovah (יהוה) alone is God with no one besides Him, and that He has no form, including the form of a man. The Trinity reverses these qualities by saying that Jesus, who has the form of a man, is also God besides Jehovah (יהוה).
