The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is an overlooked mid 2000s stealth action FPS where you get to play as Vin Diesel. Sounds intriguing? It is.

Escape From Butcher Bay was created by Starbreeze studios, with Vin Diesel heavily involved in the development process, not seeing this as a simple cash grab that most licensed games tend to be. In Escape From Butcher Bay, we get an interesting mix of stealth, gun combat, and melee combat in a prison setting, a setting that isn't used in a ton of games.

The quest marker and the mini-map are a problem in modern AAA gaming, especially with open-world games. Something needs to be done.

Instead of looking at these incredibly detailed worlds, you’re spending most of your time staring in the corner at the mini-map, or sleepwalking by following that quest arrow.

It’s lead to, dare I say the term, a dumbing down of games as a result, and it’s one that I don’t see discussed that often.
