BTW overpowering the laser can burn it out, however if its already past its prime and not working...its time for replacement anyways. This can buy you some time, however I have done this to many CD players that are still working after 5+ years.

They fixed the issue with the fan overheating and melting down by simply adding some lubrication. Removing that grease and running the fan for approx 20 minutes resulted in it melting.

Trying to troubleshoot the 20ma parasitic load/drain coming from the management/balance board. Turns out I don't think there's anything wrong with it...just a bad design and old cells.

Part 1 - First Inspection

Fixing a power supply in an old wtr54gs. The wtr54gs is the portable version of the wrt54gs, allowing you to take it with you when traveling to give you a wireless router in your hotel room.

Fixing a noisy fan in the power supply of my Monoprice maker select v2.1 .

Grounding upgrades to the Melzi board out of a Wanhao duplicator / Monoprice select 3d printer
Early revisions of this board have issues with inconsistent extruder / hotend temperatures. This mod is
supposed to fix that....from what I've read. I don't have one of those early boards so I'm not sure what the traces look like on those boards.

Fixing the motor in the tape deck that sat for 20 years on a shelf. Maybe this is one of the reasons it got put away.

Getting a tape deck that has been sitting on a shelf for 20 years running again.
Replacing belts, adjusting tape speed and tape head azmyth adjustment.

Finally upgraded the lighting above my workbench. The camera looks like crap in this video because I left it set to fully automatic and it didn't like the LED's much. Also not sure what happened to the audio, but this is what I was stuck with after all was said and done.

Purchased a $1 fan from dollar tree planning only to use it once. It didn't even last long enough for one full use.

Teardown and repair of a JVC 7 Disc CD/DVD changer/player purchased "as is" from a thrift store.

I get messaged this question a lot so here's an answer. Its just a quick video so not too much in depth but this was the only unit I had at hand to demonstrate.
