This video is KISS' first appearance on television. Most copies of this show look pretty rough and sound even worse. Since this was the very first time most people ever saw this new band called "KISS" and since it's the 50th anniversary, I thought I'd have a little fun trying to clean it up.

Video:
I've adjusted the colors and a few other things to take some of the over-saturation and blurriness out of the image and upscaled it to 1080p. I also did a little shot-swapping in a couple places to hide some glitches, to break up the choruses a bit and mostly to include the "missing" 2nd half of the first verse of "Nothin' To Lose". I did some "creative" editing to fill in the video from that section. I also made the transitions a little smoother between songs, extending the "Black Diamond" intro a bit to make it less abrupt and to give the whole video a "mini concert" appearance. I'm not sure if the songs were original aired back-to-back or as separate segments, but the edits between them is very abrupt. I also extended the intro of "Nothin' To Lose" since it was all but buried under the audience on the original.

Audio:
Drums were all re-created using Peter's original isolated kit. I then blended polyphonic samples I made from his drums to replace everything exactly as he played it. The cymbals were enhanced with actual Peter crash samples. Same for the cowbell. The toms were blended hit-for-hit with samples created from his Alive! toms.

Bass is 100% from the show with just a tiny bit of "dirt" added to the high end.

Since this was a mono recording and I wanted to create a true-stereo mix, I used the original guitar for Ace since he was louder in the mix throughout. His parts are 100% from the actual show.

Paul's guitar parts for the intro of "Firehouse and "Black Diamond" (and a few other spots) come from the show. In order to create a stereo mix, his other rhythm parts come from Alive!, mixed to match the show's guitar tone and edited to match exactly what he plays here.

Vocals are 100% from the original live recording, aside from the "missing" verse in "Nothin' to Lose" which I pulled from Alive! and matched to the sound of the rest of the show. Other than that, I blended some high frequencies from the Alive! tracks just to fix a bit of sibilance.

Like I always say, my videos are NOT for the purists. It is a fan's attempt to make these classic videos hopefully look and especially sound better for a more enjoyable experience. All care was taken to preserve as much of the nuance from the actual performance as possible. Others have done a good job cleaning up the original audio on various versions which are available if that's more your thing, but you've never heard the show like this before. It was a bit of a rush job since after starting it a few days ago, I realized the 50th anniversary was coming up and wanted to try and post it on that date.

8mm footage that is kind of grainy and rather shaky...but I have very little from 1978.
I did some aesthetic work on this, cropping...contrast and brightness, and a tad of color correction.

This is an upgrade from my previous version. MUCH better.
I don't know what happened with my first copy, it was like it was sent with 10% gray mixed in.
Mine came from a VHS 1st or 2nd gen copy, oh well...this is great.
Per usual, I did do some contrast/brightness correction, and toned down the color to clean it up.

This is the complete show with corrected audio/video sync.
I bought this...as presented, it was hardly watchable.
I recorded it and was able to fix it to the best of my abilities.
The replay was truncated and suffered the audio issues...
This is my historical record of how it should have been in the first place.
Not to mention how much this was crushed down for BitChute...it his hardly HD.

This, I swear I had posted here in a more concise form in the past...but it either got deleted, or I am mistaken.
It starts with pre show exterior footage and moves on to some live film later. This contains dubbed audio (mostly) for the live clips from Long Beach, with the brief exception of a few seconds of Mainline. This being a VERY rarely played song, they just used a clip from the record.
There is some oddly placed footage of girls in bikinis before resuming KISS footage. I assume this was filmed previously and the filmer was short on reels, and the audio added later just carried on until KISS was back.
This has interview footage interspersed in it, with a young inexperienced KISS being rather weird. It ends with multiple audio only takes by the interviewer doing segment promos.
I did a little tweaking to for color and contrast correction...and cropping out the film transfer junk leftover on the edges.

This is a different angle to a familiar show. This show has circulated for years.
At the beginning, you can see the screens used at Cobo, and faintly see the intro footage used.
This was apparently shot using antiquated video tape, possibly a 'portable' reel to reel unit.
I have seen one of these in a 2nd hand store...the recorder alone was the size of a suitcase.
The quality wasn't that great in the first place...and then there is the enemy of time to the footage.
Initially I got a 64 megabyte file, I upscaled it to a whopping 88 gigabytes...and did some fine tuning.
Gone is the greenish hue the aged footage had, and it is somewhat clearer. It is what it is.
There are artifacts that I couldn't remove, they became extremely evident when I resized for BitChute.

This is the last show in Cleveland, a town I considered my 2nd home in the 70s and 80s.

This was a private party for some Phillip Morris executives.
There were give or take 100 people there.
The filmer appears to be live streaming the show, and oft talks to the camera.
That is, when he isn't singing along....
There are several brief audio dropouts and/or volume changes.
The video suffers a bit from the LED lighting causing a black light effect...as it does when it's too close.
I tried to reduce the saturation and give it some contrast...it may have helped a touch.
Detroit Rock City was played first, but not filmed...at least by this guy.
It was also filmed by many others...so a full version may show up.
Some VIP or host comes up during Black Diamond and strums first Paul's guitar, and then starts messing with Gene's.
It's an odd video...but insanely close shot at times.
Beth was played by the whole band ala the Convention Tour...and seemed unrehearsed.

I redid the formatting a bit as this was at a bit of an odd resolution.
