Originally written in 2014 (think about it) this poem is my own internal reflection on the cultural destruction of everything we once held dear in America. Feeling alone in my sense of foreboding in that world of apathy and ignorance, I really didn't want to write this. So much has changed since "The State of Today" was first published in Headspace Magazine. The future is beginning to look brighter than ever for so many, myself included, and I thank God for the outpouring of Grace and resurgence of faith we have experienced in this country.

In retrospect I hope this poem will stand as a testament to what we faced and have overcome. There's still much to do, but at least now it feels like "Yes We Can".
