Tips & Tricks:
Use the command 'lslogins' to get basic information on the system users. Perhaps you created some logins in the past you no longer need, or you want to quickly see who you've setup access for on the system. Just type: lslogins in the terminal.

use lslogins -G to get a list of groups the users are apart of.

So many good options, so hard to choose, Unifi is back at it again with sending data home, KDE 5.18 is out, and we've officially launched wiki.linuxdelta.com!

Welcome to episode 13 of DLN Xtend. In the weekly update segment, Nate fixes his robot vacuum. Eric talks about his latest YouTube videos, including [video trimming tools and a new episode the LibreOffice Calc series with Serge.

https://www.youtube.com/c/EricAdamsYT

Our community focus this week is a topic from the Destination Linux Network Discourse forum about laptop brands that support Linux - https://discourse.destinationlinux.network/t/linux-laptop-brand-recommendations/1311

Nate and Eric discuss wanting a Linux-based tablet.

DLN recently held our second Game Night - https://discourse.destinationlinux.network/t/dln-game-night-2-saturday-february-1st-2020/1258

Destination Linux discussed Linux User Groups (LUGs) and we discuss what it takes to get started.

Destination Linux also interviewed Hayden Barnes of Canonical's WSL team. The DL crew asked some tough questions and we go into how Hayden seems to have swayed their opinions on Microsoft's recent "love" for Linux.

And last for this week, Jason Evangehlo of Linux for Everyone, Jason interviewed Dustin Krysak of Ubuntu Budgie and we discuss the nature for FOSS and how we can be appreciative and give back.

That's all for this week.

In this episode, Lana is back to recount her first experience with Ubuntu — and by extension Linux — in 12 years. There is some real talk ahead, with unfiltered opinions from outside the echo chamber. (Oh, and stick around for the bloopers). Plus, a Discovery of the Week double dose for the gamers in the house.

Tips & Tricks:
Create your own answer bot in the terminal.

Sometimes when you run an update and something fails you don't want to go through the hassle of answering Yes to every single instance over again. In this case you can make your very own Answer Bot using a Pipe.

For example:
yes | apt-get upgrade
yes | pacman -Syu
no | command of your choice

This will keep you from having to manually answer each time by putting yes or no the pipe symbol and your command.

This software spotlight comes one of the hosts of the new podcast, DLNXtend:

Since I am a KDE Plasma user and I do a lot in the web when it comes to researching and I think you should give KDE Falkon a try. It is not feature rich and lacks the Plasma Integration and ability to access DRM encumbered sources but outside of that, it has much less memory usage than Chrome or Firefox. I have been using it for nearly everything as of late. It might be wroth a try.

Tips & Tricks:
Check diskspace with df command. The most popular and generically popular version is to add the -h switch to the end for human readable format. This will let you know the diskspace used and available across your system or servers. It's easy to remeber and faster than a GUI.

Software Spotlight:
Our Spotlight this week comes from the community. Linux Maximus writes to say:

Hi. Linux Maximus here. Great show guys, not one excepted.

Sed and Awk are great but I don't do enough scripting or terminal commands to spend the time learning how they work. And just forget about regex. But need scripts that replaces one string with another string so I just love Rpl.

Here is the blurb:
rpl is a text replacement utility. It will replace strings with new strings
in multiple text files. It can work recursively over directories and supports
limiting the search to specific file suffixes.

The syntax is really simple. Here is an example of replacing a string in a file

rpl "oldstring" "newstring" /path/to/file

It also has a other options like dry-run and backup of old files. Just run rpl --help and you get a easy overview of options. Very cool little project r us that like the terminal, but not That much.

And again great show guys. More guests!

Destination Linux is podcast made by 4 people who love using the Linux platform and want to share our passion for Linux with as many people as possible.

Destination Linux, hosted by Ryan, Michael, Zeb and Noah, is weekly conversational podcast about Linux containing the latest news, in-depth discussions and some fascinating one-of-a-kind interviews. Our passion is learning and exploring all the many facets of our favorite distributions, desktops, and software. In addition to the news coverage, most of us love to game on Linux so feature weekly gaming news.

Each host of Destination Linux also creates content on their individual channels and podcasts, so if you want some more content from DL then be sure check out those channels. If you’d like to get in touch you can find links for each host on their respective pages as well as at https://destinationlinux.org/contact.
