From the 2014 album, Between Two Worlds

Can’t find a love song – in the absence of light
Can’t find a straight line – in the midst of the night
Like a coyote howl
I hear a sound-------

And all I been livin – dissipates
All I been searchin – appears and fades
All I been building - crumbles down
All I been breathin – suffocates

Can’t find a green light – the rainbow is closed
Welcome to hard times – truth has been sold
the deepest charade
I hear a sound-------

And all I been livin – dissipates
All I been searchin – appears and fades
All I been building - crumbles down
All I been breathin – suffocates

Good bye blue sky - tic tac and toe
White out the skyline - and all that’s below
Believe what you breathe
I hear a sound--------

And all I been livin – dissipates
All I been searchin – appears and fades
All I been building - crumbles down
All I been breathin – suffocates

Converge

When writing this piece, the word converge is what came to mind. There are many thoughts behind why, but that seemed to be the fitting title of the piece.

The video is from royalty free stock footage that I browsed through and downloaded. As I began fitting the pieces together they came together...or converged to create a visual lyric for this wordless piece. There are a couple nugget connections for me in this video. I hope you find yours.

Seemingly wayward paths
Are not always so.
Seekers of truth go to the edges...
But never let go.
May our paths converge in the palm of the hand of the loving Father who created us.

Woke today with tired mind
Recent future's out of time
Seven days or 15 hours
Either way
Now is gone

Spinnin wheels grind to halt
Ridin high and then you fall
Step outside and walk it off
There's always gain after loss

Met a man along a creek
Snow white beard and leather feet
He looked through me
With clear jewel eyes
And I could feel his gaze inside

Without a word he searched my soul
I heard his heart and then he spoke

He said,
Son - don't quit your daydream
You aint wrong to seek some inner peace
This wicked world will leave you incomplete
And you ain't wrong - to walk away

Son - don't quit your daydream
You aint wrong to seek some inner peace
This wicked world aint but a beast
And then he turned and walked away.

This was composed and shot after a long day of busking. The piece is just about a half hour old at this point so still a bit clunky in places but I was pretty into it.

A friend asked about the title of this piece.

My reply:
I suppose its more of the same from me...always in between, not quite arrived. Those are the dominating thoughts with me, never quite there.

From that perpetual mindset i was pondering outside of me and thinking how the first half of the day was what appeared to be a pristine blue sky, uninfected by geo engineering planes spraying their tic tac toe grid. So half the day was blue....but then again, because the spraying is constant, its really not blue anyway. Not completely. There is always that haze. So it's not really blue it's half blue.

Then again i was half blue thinking all that...not completely blue as in depressed but somber.

But on the light side, someone recently reminded me how our music is a tool of positive energy in the midst of all that is sapping the life from us...so i was at peace with doing my small part to counter the darkness...

I see blue as a calming neutral color. You can go either way from blue...you can go either way from half.

So as i needed a title when saving the file i pondered what was in my noggin that inspired the music and Half Blue seemed to cover it.

Haha! Never a simple answer like, i saw a dog that was half blue and half red. Well i guess that would be weird....

This music is about bringing light to dark places, about meeting people where they are at, about exposing darkness, and even sometimes expressing the effect of darkness on myself....it is an authentic journey. It is thoughtful music. It is music for the dirty and the broken, for the ragamuffins and the prodigals. It is a soundtrack to the quest for truth....with a side of escaping from it all.
