At some point in all lives of persons, I suppose you must assemble some EVH Frankenstrat guitar. I saw these painted bodies on eBay from China, as you may have, and decided this will be easy way to quickly fulfill task and move on with life. Surprisingly, while body is piece of crap, paint job is astonishing. Seriously. Layers of paint, tape job, and even locations of stripes and wear marks are hand made with absolute artistry. If person that painted this body applied this amazing work to a high quality body, they would be able to sell these for fortune of money. With this, I will attach a cheap pre-made neck, cheap humbucker pickups, and best quality tremolo that cost twice as much as body. 🤣

At some point in all lives of persons, I suppose you must assemble some EVH Frankenstrat guitar. I saw these painted bodies on eBay from China, as you may have, and decided this will be an easy way to quickly fulfill task and move on with life. Surprisingly, while body is piece of crap, paint job is astonishing. Seriously. Layers of paint, tape job, and even locations of stripes and wear marks are hand made with absolute artistry. If person that painted this body applied this amazing work to a high quality body, they would be able to sell these for fortune of money. With this, I will attach a cheap pre-made neck, cheap humbucker pickups, and best quality tremolo that cost twice as much as body. 🤣

In first step of modification process, I disassemble guitar completely, and remove all factory electronics and hardware. Screw holes are reinforced with wood glue in preparation for re-assembly with parts list below:

Intent of this project was to throw together a quick and inexpensive "Partscaster" that would be light and comfortable, with thought I may start actually learning to play guitar...after 35+ years of modifying them. (Strat style guitar is most comfortable for practice play guitar. I don't practice play guitar.) But, when I price some inexpensive body and neck components, I found this brand new Squier guitar is so cheap, I just buy brand new whole guitar. 😂 It's absolutely great value...very nice guitar right from box. Beautiful vintage style neck (although fake vintage color is a little too orange to me), vintage style tuners, skunk stripe, and thick body. Specification says body is made from pine wood, which does not seem like logical choice for electric guitar. But, if it fails, I can use it for firewood when electricity fails this winter. Pickups sound fine...they sound like Strat guitar should sound.

This guitar needs no modifications...it is great as is. But, input jack is loose, so I'll need to remove jack plate and tighten it. Since I'll have jack plate removed, I figure I'll make a few more SMALL tweaks to guitar. Maybe something like this:

In final video of Mockingbird Ultra Mod Series, I remove temporarily installed DiMarzio X2N in bridge position, and DiMarzio PAF Master in neck position, and replace with set of Dimarzio Titan humbuckers (F-spaced in bridge position, nickel covers, black pole pieces) as originally planned.

I also install mini switches to select parallel or series wiring for each pickup. I am not big fan of coil "splitting"...turning off coil is just disabling perfectly good pickup to me. However, having ability to switch pickup into parallel mode does give a sound that may have a place...in those times I am not looking for MOST GAIN through METAL ZONE pedal. 😂 Very usable sound, to me! You may easily try this wiring on your humbucker...I have provided clean and easy to read series to parallel humbucker wiring diagram at beginning of video. 😂😂

Horrible apocalyptic noise in background is Squier Bass VI (with Sniffer Heavy Metal Conversion Package installed) being run through Digitech Metal Master pedal and DigiTech Polara reverb. If you don't have Digitech Metal Master pedal, you need to get one...it is fun...especially if you don't know how to actually play guitar. 😈

In video six of series, I re-install StayTrem stainless arm to tremolo, and re-assemble unit using all stainless fasteners. Tremolo tension adjustment screw is replaced with socket head stainless bolt and nylon washer for easier adjustments. Vintage white tip on arm was replaced with black tip. My plan was to try LaBella Bass VI FLAT wound stings on this setup, but core of one of these snapped like a twig during installation. That's okay, I think wound rounds are better suited for this Bass VI. Flat wounds also had wrapping on ends that did not play well with locking tuners. $50 thrown into trash; new 767-6S round wounds installed, back to business. Saddle intonation screws on StayTrem bridge were replaced with socket head stainless bolts with nylon washers for easier adjustment. 😈

Background noise is Ibanez Artcore AS73 semi-hollow, played through NUX Solid Studio IR/Amp Sim, Boss RT-20 rotary pedal, NUX Time Core Delay, and DigiTech Polara Reverb.

In fourth video in series, I solder wires to components, to achieve series wiring of all pickups. "Strangle Switch" is re-purposed as blower type switch for bridge pickup, that also allows tone control when bridge pickup selector is activated (no tone control when bridge pickup selector switch is off). 500K linear taper Bourns pot used for volume, and 250K audio taper Bourns pot used for tone. Pure Tone Multi-Contact Black Nickel output jack installed. .047uF Orange Drop cap utilized for tone, and 25mm TAISS aluminum knobs installed. 😈
