Finishing the gold leaf work on a new charcoal drawing last night, “Our Lady of the Apocalypse” charcoal on paper 18 x 24”.
I had high hopes for this live portrait painting demonstration but my 8-year-old son had other plans. Suffer with me through this speed portrait painting that condensed 2 hours into just over 1 minute. I swear this music was going through my head that night.

I am a classical figurative artist that fuses my life experiences with art history. My paintings are a declaration to the dramatic power of traditional, figurative art and the human emotion. The origin of my inspiration does not lie in academia, rather my past as a child surrounded by the vivid paintings I saw in Gothic cathedrals as a child. I don’t aspire to simply paint a figure; I paint a moment, a human experience, and an emotional dialogue that transcends culture, religion and time itself.
