Many have asked so here it is, how many miles a day did I do

This is about the most accurate account of my daily miles on the river as tracked by strava. It is not 100 % accurate but it is pretty close.

Thanks and enjoy!

How I keep my devices charged while camping

In this video I go over the procedure on using the locks on the river. It can be a bit intimidating approaching the structures if you have not done it before. being smart, safe and following some simple procedures it is an easy thing to do!

An in depth list of many of the items I carried on my 62 day trip kayaking the Mighty Mississippi River.

The final part of the trip is the ride back home where my wife and I stop at many locations along the Mississippi recommended by many people. It was a mini adventure in itself and we were both glad we took the time to do it!

I remembered paddling by so many of the places we visited. It seems like it was so long ago the further back north we got.

Thank you for watching the series! There have been so many positive comments and I really appreciate it!

Take care and see you soon!

This is it! After everything it all comes down to the last day and the incrediable view at the end of the river! I hope you have enjoyed the series! I honestly had no idea how these videos would look and how the series would turn out but i know that they have received a lot of positive feedback and I know that I love them!

This video is not only going to wrap up the trip but also serve as a thank you to everyone that has contributed to my successful completion of the journey! The people along the river are amazing and I am humbled by their generosity!

Thank you all for watching and please, Find a Way to Escape!

Hello New Orleans! The 2nd to last video of the series brings me through New Orleans and beyond finishing up the video at river mile 17! What an incredible stretch of river this was with the insanely busy shipping traffic going strong all day. There were several stretches where I felt required my total and complete attention to everything going on. There were barges tied up on shore (fleeted barges), tows, tugs, and the ocean liners all competing for the open space on the river.

I felt pretty small out there, it was the most stressful part of the river for me but it was amazing to see the industry hard at work!

Finally the busy port of Baton Rouge! Now dealing with the ocean going vessels i am back in the school of learning as i figure out how things will be dealing with them. The river was very busy in the area between Baton Rouge and NOLA. I would find myself more stressed on this portion of the river then the entire rest of the trip combined. The one thing the camera can not show is just how small you feel while among the countless barges, tows, tugs and ocean liners. it seems like everything is moving and i often felt as though i was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Leaving another beautiful island campsite I get to stay in Natchez at the historic Under the Hill Saloon and see a massive river boat. After another night and a day off on my own private island I finally paddle to within 10 river miles of Baton Rouge, an area of the river I have wondered about the entire trip.

After seeking refuge in Cassville, WI from the weather I am back on my way finally getting a hotel, seeing the most birds I have ever seen in one place and finally landing on my own island and getting some use of the drone.

Flooding is becoming more apparent every day as I am now in an area of the country where it has been raining off and on since winter ended which is keeping the river levels high.

Leaving my 4 day vacation at home I get back on the river in Hastings, MN ready to get going! Now entering into the driftless zone we start to see the bluffs and large endless pools before the locks. I catch back up with Lars and Marianne and head out onto big old Lake Pepin.

It was awesome stopping by the National Eagle Center and seeing/hearing about the work they do! It it was a great stop and its right along the river.

Tracy Wilson: Along with Shane Tracy was paddling the Mississippi River the same year as me. We talked via facebook and phone calls many times along the way. Talking about water levels and conditions and simply b.s.'ing from time to time. Shane and Tracy were taking their time on the river and enjoying themselves as they went. I will forever regret not meeting them along the way as I passed by them without knowing it and did not get that opportunity again but we stayed in contact.

She was always in good spirits when we talked and I always enjoyed talking with Tracy and Shane. The Last time I heard from Tracy was when I reached the end of my trip. She gave me congratulations and asked about river conditions and my opinions.

My prayers are with her friends and family. I will always remember Tracy as a fun and enthusiastic person who I was honored to share the river with. God Bless

We make it to Minneapolis/St. Paul the Twin Cities and I get to visit my favorite fishing spot from when I was a kid which was awesome. I was born in Minneapolis and lived in the suburbs south of there most of my life so coming through this area of the river holds a special place in the journey for me!!

I finally make it to Hastings which is the closest I will be to my home for the rest of the journey so my wife came out to Lock and Dam 2 to pick me up for a few days!!

Leaving the suchers campsite and saying goodbye and good luck to Darrell and Johnathon I meet up with my wife for a night off river and a resupply before heading back out on the river. Solo once again I make a stop at the verdon camp, after I couldn't find the ms. keto campsite. Not wanting to stay out of a designated campsite and it was getting late I pulled the boat up the strange water access. eventually making it to one of the nicest looking campsites scott's rapid was a beautiful stop.
