When Chair Linda asked Superintendent Dr. Ronald "Scott" Fritz for his remarks on mask mandates, the beginning started off like this!
You tell me, sure doesn't sound like everyone is on the same page.
Sounds to me like the Fab 3 - Linda, Carl, Ruben - Champions of destroying your parental right, pushing for more government overreach have been working this out in secret.
8.10.2021 the Volusia County School Board had discussions on defying Governor Ron DeSantis's orders and reinstating the Mask Mandates for children in school.
School Board Chair Linda Cuthbert delivers an ending monolog on why she is prevented from saving children’s lives.
Telling all parents “I guess, we have to trust the parents to do what’s best for their children”.
I guess?
I think someone forgot their actual position and duties as an elected official.

Policy 503 was Adopted on June 14th, 2021. This made masks optional in school.
Now Volusia County School Board intends on bringing back the mandate with the option for parents to opt-out. Playing follow the leader of a couple other school boards.
May 11th the first revision was announced on making masks optional in the coming school year.
May 14th the second revision was put out with some interesting additions. This is the version that ultimately passed a vote.
You can see how they worded things, that the intention was never to keep masks straight up optional. They left the room to re-implement the policy at a moment's notice.
Which I believe is exactly where we are headed again.

Listen as Dr. Fritz talks about himself being JUST LIKE another Superintendent from Pinellas County.
Then proceeds to tell parents what he really thinks of their freedom of choice for their child.
Remember, Volusia County School Board plays follow the leader. NOT ONCE have they stepped up and made a unique leadership decision different than other Florida districts.
I wonder what life is like always being a puppet and never the master?
If we were ever allowed to ask questions to these people, maybe we could find out!
Despite knowing months ahead of time what the repercussions were of breaking the law. The School Board went ahead anyways and mandated masks in schools.
Jamie Haynes and Anita Burnette were the only board members to vote against a mandate. Leaving the choice to wear a mask up to the parents and children.
Now, the school board doesn’t want to be fined.
What’s their reasoning? “We only broke the law for 3 days”.
