When I first received my S2400 back in 2021 the measly SD card I had for it performed sufficiently, but after the most recent firmware updates it no longer does. I recently upgraded to a 200 MB/s card and things are better than ever!

Happy May The 4th y'all! 🙂 I attempted this last year but I was unable to replicate a good input signal to the 2600. Let's try again! For the transcript, I used GPT to translate my voice (picked up from the camera mic) to text, and inserted that into the video.

I would normally say "It's been a long while since I dropped a jam" but it's really only been about two weeks ... I have three jams pre-rolled and ready to be released in the months to come so be on the look out for those. And I will be releasing my first album on Bandcamp! 😃 Stay tuned for that as well ... In the meantime I wanted to play something mellow and somber because I find that hard to do. 😅

K2 sequenced by SQ-1 and effected by the Hypnosis. Samples from PO-33 into VC340 vocoder. MIDI out from VC340 into Solina. Lucious stereo spreads from Hypnosis and VC340 while mono Solina gets stereo phaser from the SX2442FX and more goodness from the G1on.

Not my copyright, I just like to (poorly) edit and share this stuff.

Taken from "Insert Coin" (2020) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11916218/

An insert merely allows you to "insert" a new effect in series into the signal chain. The antithesis would be an "aux channel" that allows you to mix the new effect in parallel with the original signal.

I will be featured in Matt Wright's (@mwmusic29) series about "First Synthesizers" on March 30th, and to celebrate that here's a Micro Jam!! It's been several months since we've had a proper Micro Jam, and to celebrate THAT please head on over to Matt's channel and give him a sub. Thank you!

PO-28 and PO-33 direct into mixer with aux sends to the B1on. Korg Volca Keys into Disorder for filtered fuzz into Hypnosis for stereo chorus and delay. Keys into mixer but bypass direct into G1on. Polyphase in mono with external loop mood into Paragraphs into mixer with aux sends to the G1on. The day is finally here. Can you believe another Jamuary has come and gone? I can. 😂 This performance was meant to merely be a sound check. On this day I was very burned out from cramming in 30 jams in 5 days. I didn't even want to stream to Twitch because I had yet to sequence drum parts. I pushed myself to stream anyway and set up the missing drum parts during the performance. When all was said and done, I decided that in the true spirit of Jamuary, THIS was the final jam, warts and all. But ... when I uploaded this video for a scheduled release it received a copyright strike during the first minute. What the heck?!?! Rather than deal with crooks I just removed the first minute and re-uploaded. So it starts out a bit weird, and the sync seems to be out sometimes ... that's Jamuary for you! 😅

(This was the first and only jam on Day Six, originally streamed live on Twitch, Jan 6th, 2024.)

THE QUESTION WAS ALWAYS MOOT! I was always going to get the RD-9! 🥁😆🥁 Having reiterated that ... the Lofi-6 is a wonderful machine for capturing and using samples from drum machines. I hope to get back to a point where I can make more sample packs from drum machines. Can't do that with the Roland TD-09, you see. A long time ago I made a VoSyr sample pack of the TT-78 for the Volca Sample ... it's still available for free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n1LkR4afNI (Keep in mind I actually wrote the description for this video before Behringer announced the RD-78 a few days ago!) --- OH! And can you believe Jamuary is almost over? Time flies when you are jamming ...

This regurgitation of Jam #16 Break Beats wraps up our mini trilogy of cannibalized Jamuaries. At this point I had realized the EWI-5000 had not been used with the Lofi-6 so I rushed a new part in. Like a bull in a china shop, the EWI-5000 crashes the party, and leaves without saying goodbye.I should have attempted another take but it took six false starts just to manage this one. I was spent by this point. Jamuary Fatigue 😅

BIG BEATS are back for a double back to back attack! Didn't see that one comin did ya? Today's target was Jam #5 BIG BEATS and the end results are big in their own way. This turned out to be one of my favorite jams for the month, I hope you enjoy it too. On the current news side of things Florida is great. I'd like to think that, after NAMM, participants walk away asking a simple question ... this jam is dedicated to @microgrampy (whom I am fairly sure owns and operates NAMM from behind the scenes 🤣) This concludes the "movie quote mini trilogy" portion of sampling with the Lofi-6.

I am now in Florida!! Yesterday I drove about 14 hours through Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. I avoided Atlanta because it was raining. Once I got south of Birmingham the rain mostly stopped and it was a nice ride all the way through. I drove through Florida after the sun set so I didn't get to enjoy the sights but that's ok, the air felt really nice. Part 2 of this lil mini trilogy ... if you get inside The Hotel, just make sure you get out.

I waited all day yesterday on UPS for my package of guitar pedal boxes to arrive, so I could repack those guitar pedals and put them back in storage before I leave for Florida. Never showed up -- even drove to their facility and learned that it won't be out for delivery until Thursday! (To be fair we were totally snowed it ALL last week.) So today I am the road to Florida! That project will have to wait until I return. In other news, sampling things with the Lofi-6 is super intuitive and fun! Still using stock instrument samples but this time we add some MOVIE QUOTES! 😅👍

More sample flipping with the stock samples in this little BEAST OF A SAMPLER! 😆 I programmed in some Latin grooves and just layered stuffs over it that seemed cool. This is a really fun sampler! 😄 Still using stock samples that came with the unit, I am trying to completely change their parts. This is a real treat to sample flip with. 👍Three takes because it was tricky performing and muting tracks on the fly. One gotcha however --- where does one begin to store their own Projects? Everyone complains about manuals but me personally, the first thing should be discussing what is mine and what is yours. Or at least how to init/erase patches and sequences. It's no big deal of course, it's all in fun ... what happened to me here is I just tried to erase the tracks on the first Demo sequence and add my own stuff. The problem is the first Demo sequence had a literal PAUSE "parameter locked" on the last step of the sequence. I could not for the life of me figure out what was going on until a few days later when I read about it in the manual. So ... that pause is in this jam too! As a drummer, that kind of stuff drives me nuts! 😆 arrrr!

And now we move on to our third and final featured groove box for the month. As the display suggests, we are trying out the internal Arena verbs effect (paired up nicely with this stock drum set of percussions). No other effects used. I have been snowed in since the 15th, when the snow and ice thaws out I will head down to Florida for the rest of the month.

By this point The Fatigue was starting to creep in. I ran downstairs and grabbed one of my TT-303 Bass Bots so I could use *it* to sequence the bass parts for the final jams with the Bass & Beats. It takes a bit of time to cull out a really banger sequence (or two) but the end results never disappoint me. I probably should have given this one another take but in the spirit of Jamuary I did not. I also learned some new things about the TT-303 which I could have used at the old place. But that's just how it goes ... ACIDEEEE!! 🙃 (And ... just to be 100% crystal clear ... all sounds are from the Bass & Beats, not the TT-303 ... and no samples ... the TT-303 was merely hijacked for its MIDI.)

Collection of live hardware jams. Desktop synthesizers and drum machines are automated with MIDI and CV events. All audio from the hardware is routed and mixed into a 24 channel console. Only the stereo output from the console is captured into a computer and mixed in with the video of the live performance.
