Beloved,
Do not think it strange,
The fiery trial which is to try you,
As though some strange thing happened to you.

But REJOICE,
To the extent THAT YOU PARTAKE OF CHRIST's SUFFERINGS.

That when His glory is revealed,
You may also be glad with EXCEEDING JOY.

If you are reproached for the name of Christ,
BLESSED ARE YOU,
For the SPIRIT OF GLORY AND OF GOD RESTS UPON YOU.
(1 Peter 4:12-14)

Let your conduct be worthy of the Gospel of Christ...
AND NOT IN ANY WAY TERRIFIED BY YOUR ADVERSARIES,
Which is to them a proof of perdition,
BUT TO YOU OF SALVATION,
And that from God.

For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ,
Not only to believe in Him,
BUT ALSO TO SUFFER FOR HIS SAKE,
Having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.

TO LIVE IS CHRIST,
TO DIE IS GAIN
(Philippians 1:21-30)

For then there will be
GREAT TRIBULATION,
Such as has not been since the beginning of the world, until this time.
No, nor ever shall be.

Guard what was committed to your trust.
Avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of science, falsely so called.
By professing it some have strayed concerning the faith.
(1 Timothy 6:20-21)

And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds.
Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all.
And they counted up the value of them and it totalled fifty thousand pieces of silver.
So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.

Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation,
spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place
(whoever reads, let him understand),
then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.
And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.

Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth?
I tell you, not at all, but rather division.
For from now on five in one house will be divided:
three against two, and two against three.
Father will be divided against son and son against father,
mother against daughter and daughter against mother,
mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother- in-law.

By your patience, possess your souls.
(Luke 21:19)

We also glory in tribulations,
knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
and perseverance, character;
and character, hope.
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

*CORRECTION*
Antiochus Epiphanies profaned the 2nd Jerusalem Temple (not the 1st, as mistakenly stated).
Emperor Caligula also tried to profane the 2nd Jerusalem Temple, but was not as successful.
Apologies for the error.

A true witness delivers souls,
But a deceitful witness speaks lies.
(Proverbs 14:25)

And no wonder
For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers,
also transform themselves into ministers of righteous.
Whose end will be according to their works
