Is Leo Gura from Actualized.org really on the path towards enlightenment or is he a fraud/fake who's fooling both himself and others?

I have been following the channel Actualized.org for a few years now and have compiled a list of points where his and my experiences seem to differ:
- Leo does not believe in a physical reality. He argues that we are victims of ‘naïve realism’.
- Leo’s views on duality/non-duality. To Leo, it seems to be important to blur distinctions between basically everything.
- Leo seems to believe in a ‘True Self’.
- The terms ‘infinite’ or ‘infinity’ seem integral to Leo’s experiences.
- The idea of an all-encompassing intelligence (‘God’).

Practicing de-humanizing or objectifying people is what led me to the first awakening experience I had.

I would deliberately practice looking at humans as though they were weird alien animals or objects. In other words, I would intentionally de-humanize people.

The reason this was my approach is that whenever I look at simple animals like snails or jellyfish (or indeed plants and fungi) I feel no fear or judgement towards them. They don’t judge me, and if they do something that I would judge a human for, I feel no judgment towards them.

I figured that if I could make myself look this way at humans I would set myself up to being able to love in a more unconditional way.

In this video I will suggest a few exercises to make this work easier to do.

In my experience, the difficulty level of becoming awakened is (to some extent) comparable to learning mathematics.

In this video I describe how difficult it has been for me to awaken and also attempt to explain why I think it’s so difficult for most people.

To become enlightened you have to fight human intuition/instinct and cultivate a non-human way of thinking. You have to purposefully try to rid yourself of the feeling that your emotions matter and that you exist. And just like with math, this does not come natural to us and might even be a selective disadvantage in an evolutionary sense.

What my first awakening experience was like.

I had a very distinct feeling that I for the first time realized that everything in this world consists of physical objects. I managed for the first time to get a glimpse of the world without the filter of human emotion and simply observe it for what it was. All human meaning disappeared and what was left was the physical world.

What made this moment so special for me was that I had found the cure to all of the problems I had been struggling to resolve up to that point. Before this experience I would contemplate one little issue at a time, trying to better myself, but with this experience I realized that none of it mattered. I could take the shortcut. And if I could simply have this feeling take over all of my life I didn’t need to resolve anything.

Enlightenment doesn’t solve any problems but it makes them all seem infinitely insignificant. The solution to all problems is to realize that there are no problems at all.

My journey towards awakening started when I was 17 and began analyzing my thoughts, behavior and emotions. Doing this has nothing to do with enlightenment per se, but it kickstarted the process which would lead to an increasing depersonalization. One that will, hopefully, lead to a perpetual state of nothingness.

A little note is that I don’t do this self-analysis anymore. I’ve moved on to other ‘techniques’. But as a starting point, I encourage you to do it.

The introduction of my channel, which is going to be about ‘spiritual enlightenment’ or ‘awakening’.

What I mean when I say ‘awakening’ or ‘enlightenment’ is a state loss of self/identity. It’s entering a state where you feel that you cease to exist. You stop identifying with your own body.

I myself had an ‘awakening experience’ around 4 years ago. I felt a peace come over me that I had never experienced before. I knew at once that this was what I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life. This is my life purpose.

I will record my own journey as well as provide (hopefully useful) advice, tips, and tricks for those of you who are just getting started.
