That Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah can be verified by the fact that He had 456 prophetic identifying characteristics mentioned in the Old Testament hundreds of years in advance & He fulfilled them all! What does the science of probability make of this? Professor Emeritus of Science at Westmont College, Peter Stoner, has calculated the probability of one man fulfilling the major prophecies made concerning the Messiah. The estimates were worked out by twelve different classes representing some 600 university students.

The students carefully weighed all the factors, discussed each prophecy at length, and examined the various circumstances which might indicate that men had conspired together to fulfill a particular prophecy. They made their estimates conservative enough so that there was finally unanimous agreement even among the most skeptical students.

However Professor Stoner then took their estimates, and made them even more conservative. Finally, he submitted his figures for review to a committee of the American Scientific Affiliation. Upon examination, they verified that his calculations were dependable and accurate in regard to the scientific material presented (Peter Stoner, Science Speaks, Chicago: Moody Press, 1969, 4).

For example, concerning Micah 5:2, where it states the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem Ephrathah, Stoner and his students determined the average population of BETHLEHEM from the time of Micah to the present; then they divided it by the average population of the earth during the same period.

They concluded that the chance of one man being born in Bethlehem was one in 300,000, (or one in 2.8 x 10^5 - rounded),

After examining only eight different prophecies (Idem, 106), they conservatively estimated that the chance of one man fulfilling all eight prophecies was one in 10^17.

To illustrate how large the number 10^17 IS (a figure with 17 zeros), Stoner gave this illustration :

If you mark one of ten tickets, and place all the tickets in a hat, and thoroughly stir them, and then ask a blindfolded man to draw one, his chance of getting the right ticket is one in ten. Suppose that we take 10^17 silver dollars and lay them on the face of Texas. They'll cover all of the state two feet deep. Now mark one of these silver dollars and stir the whole mass thoroughly, all over the state. Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far as he wishes, but he must pick up one silver dollar and say that this is the right one. What chance would he have of getting the right one? Just the same chance that the prophets would've had of writing these eight prophecies and having them all come true in any one man, from their day to the present time, providing they wrote them in their own wisdom (Idem, 106-107).

From these figures, Professor Stoner, concludes the fulfillment of these eight prophecies alone proves that God inspired the writing of the prophecies (Idem, 107) - the likelihood of mere chance is only one in 10^17!

But, of course, there are many more than eight prophecies. In another calculation, Stoner used 48 prophecies (Idem, 109) (even though he could have used Edersheim's 456), and arrived at the extremely conservative estimate that the probability of 48 prophecies being fulfilled in one person is the incredible number 10^157. How large is the number one in 10^157? 10^157 contains 157 zeros! Stoner gives an illustration of this number using electrons. Electrons are very small objects. They're smaller than atoms. It would take 2.5 TIMES 10^15 of them, laid side by side, to make one inch. Even if we counted 250 of these electrons each minute, and counted day and night, it would still take 19 million years just to count a line of electrons one-inch long (Stoner, op. cit, 109).

As Stoner concludes, 'Any man who rejects Christ as the Son of God is rejecting a fact, proved perhaps more absolutely than any other fact in the world (Stoner, op. cit., 112).' Even Einstein accepted the historical existence of Jesus Christ ("Saturday Evening Post," October 26, 1929).

The spirit of St Benedict's Rule is summed up in the motto of the Benedictine Confederation: pax ("peace") and the traditional ora et labora ("pray and work").).

The Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration are a congregation of nuns within the Benedictine Confederation. The original monastery was founded in 1874 by a group of five nuns, led by Sister Mary Anselma Felber, O.S.B., who came from the young monastery of Maria-Rickenbach (founded 1857) in Switzerland. Arriving in Clyde, Missouri, they founded the Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration. This remains the motherhouse and largest community of the congregation. It houses 550 documented relics of the saints—the biggest such collection in the United States. The decision to come was sparked by the departure of a group of monks from the nearby Engelberg Abbey, at a time when monastic communities felt threatened by political changes taking place throughout Europe. As with many other monastic groups, they looked to the New World for a place of refuge.The monks went on to found Conception Abbey in nearby Conception, Missouri, and began to minister to German and Irish immigrants of the region. The nuns follow a simple, contemplative way of life, formed by the Rule of St. Benedict. To this end, they supported themselves by such farming as could be done on their land. They also provide the printing of spiritual cards, as well as making vestments for churches around the country, and the baking of Altar Breads. To the usual monastic routine, they have added the practice of Perpetual Adoration in their chapels.

Roman Catholic nuns, similar in tradition to ancient Rome's "vestal virgins" (the Vestals or Vestal Virgins (Vestales, singular Vestalis), were priestesses of Vesta, goddess of the hearth. The Vestals were freed of the usual social obligations to marry and bear children, and took a vow of chastity in order to devote themselves to the study and correct observance of state rituals) or Buddhist nuns, think their ascetic lifestyle will earn them eternal salvation. Even Mother Teresa felt the emptiness of this type of "works to earn salvation" writing, "How cold—how empty—how painful is my heart.—Holy communion—Holy Mass—all the holy things of spiritual life—of the life of Christ in me—are all so empty—so cold—so un-wanted. The physical situation of my poor, left in the streets unwanted, unloved, un-claimed—are the true picture of my own spiritual life, of my love for Jesus...." (Letter to Fr. Neuner, May 12, 1962, Mother Teresa, p. 232).

True Christian believers have the "Spirit of truth" (John 14:17) and through that Spirit, a vital bond of union with Jesus Christ. If anyone has Christ as Savior, he or she has the Holy Spirit as Indweller (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Anyone who claims to belong to Jesus Christ but gives no evidence of being indwelt by the Holy Spirit lacks the indisputable proof to establish his or her claim. No test could be more easily applied and none is more decisive, as Scripture explains; "now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His" (Romans 8:9). The consolation of the Holy Spirit is so basic to Christian life that the Apostle Paul calls it "everlasting consolation;" (2 Thess 2:16). Eternal redemption, and the everlasting life is found in the Gospel of grace (Ephesians 2:8-10). Thus living in a monastery or convent is unnecessary & using relics, praying to Mary, or following ascetic rules & rituals believing it will lead to salvation is worthless (Galatians 1:6-9).

Most people seem to be unaware that the tradition of old men taking child brides is widely practiced in Muslim lands because they are following the example of Mohammad. In Iran as of June 2002 it is legal for a 9 year old girl to marry with her parents' permission. Voices Behind the Veil p.136-137. The Dallas Morning News Sep 28, 2003 p.1,10S had a story about the sad plight of Muslim Nigerian girls who were married very young, got pregnant and had labor before their small bodies were ready. It was actually somewhat of a gross story, basically of many girls who needed C-sections but did not get them. Many survived, but could not have any children due to their perforated uteruses.

And if we are wrong, then we are simply wrong.”

We can see that the stakes are high.

There are many, perhaps the majority, of Adventist pastors and Bible teachers who want to run as far away from Daniel 8:14, 1844 and the investigative judgment, and the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary as possible. Yet the church cannot dismiss this doctrine. This doctrine is not only the central pillar in name, it is the central pillar holding up the whole Adventist identity. I agree 100% with Dr. Rodriguez on this point. If the Adventist church were to jettison this teaching, the organization would be morphed into something it is not. That is why the last two General Conference presidents have openly endorsed Ellen White and the sanctuary doctrine. If they were to admit the errors of October 22, 1844, and the investigative judgment as the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary as taught by Ellen White, then Ellen White would fall as “a continuing and authoritative source of truth”. If Ellen White is rejected, the doctrine of the remnant church would fall on the heap. If the remnant church doctrine goes, then the Sabbath as the seal of God for end time believers and Sunday as the mark of the beast crumbles into the dust.

"Every species of animal which God had created, were preserved in the ark. The confused species which God did not create, which were the result of amalgamation, were destroyed by the flood. White is saying in first quote: 1.Amalgamation was the sin above all other sins that caused the flood and the destruction of the race. 2.The amalgamation of man and beast defaced the image of God and caused confusion everywhere. In the second quote Ellen is saying: 1.Every species that God created were preserved in the ark. 2.The confused species that were the result of amalgamation were not allowed on the ark and were destroyed by the flood. 3.Since the flood there have been amalgamation of man and beast and may be seen today in species of animals and certain races of men. We are asked to believe that there are part human and part beast creatures about us today as there was before the flood. Uriah Smith Comes to Ellen's Defense in 1868 1.There was offspring living in Ellen and Smith's day that was the result of amalgamation. 2.Some of "the confused species" that Ellen failed to name Smith jumped right in and named them. He named the wild Bushmen of Africa, some tribes of Hottentots also from Africa, Digger Indians from America and Patagonians from South America. 3.Smith believed as did the evolutionist that, "Moreover, naturalists affirm that the line of demarkation between human and animal races is lost in confusion." It is impossible as they affirm, to tell, just where the human ends and the animal begin. Can we suppose that this was so ordained of God in the beginning? Smith did not know that human blood and animal blood do not merge into one blood. 4.That these black people should be treated as human because they had human blood in them from Adam. 5.These people were of low mentality because of the sin of amalgamation and thy are not responsible for that sin. Keep in mind that Ellen approved of Smith's defense. If we use Smith's argument that the confused species that were the result of amalgamation were Negro or Black people, then we are faced with another problem. Moses married or amalgamated with an Ethiopian woman. (KJV). -"Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite."-Num 12:1 (NIV). Would God have choose Moses to lead Israel if he had committed the greatest sin known to man and the one sin that called for the destruction of the race by the flood and his offspring were defacing the image of God? Rom. 5:9 Examples of people who bypassed the Investigative Judgment: Biblical Examples Mrs. White said "all" must pass through the investigative judgment to determine whether or not they will be saved (GC 1888, p. 483). The Bible clearly shows that the cases of many people have already been decided prior to the Investigative Judgment: The Thief on the cross: Jesus declared to the thief on the cross, "Today shalt thou be with me in paradise." (Luke 22:43). Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: The Bible says Abraham was justified (accounted righteous) by faith (Rom. 4:2-5). Nearly 1800 years before the Investigative Judgment supposedly began Jesus declared: And I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. Matt. 8:11 Moses: The Scriptures clearly states that Moses sinned, died and is now in heaven (Jude 9). If everyone's sins are NOT blotted out until AFTER the investigative judgment, how could Moses enter heaven? The Bible clearly states that no sinner will enter heaven (Rev. 21:27). Moses' sins must have been blotted out prior to 1844! Elijah: There is no mention of an Investigative Judgment when Ellen White relates how Elijah was taken directly to the throne of heaven (Desire of Ages, p. 301). Despite his rejection of the Sabbath light, Mrs. White indicates Miller will be saved - Early Writings, p. 258. John 8:32

When George Gainer was researching his paper, the American Hospital Association Guide to the Health Care Field, 1986, stated: Twelve of the 56 Adventist hospitals in the United States [are] offering ‘abortion services’ including ‘a program and facilities.’31 The hospitals listed are as follows: Castle Medical Center, Hadley Memorial Hospital, Hanford Community Hospital, Loma Linda University Medical Center, Porter Memorial Hospital, Portland Adventist Medical Center, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Sierra Vista Hospital, Walla Walla General Hospital, Washington Adventist Hospital, and White Memorial Medical Center. One could be forgiven for wondering if our other hospitals [which] supplied reports on which the Guide is based are accurate as to the difference between therapeutic abortion and elective abortion.32 Nic Samojluk of Loma Linda has been researching Adventists and abortion over a period of several years for his doctoral dissertation. He has some follow-up information that sheds some light on the current data available about abortions and Adventist hospitals. On his website www.Adventlife.Wordpress.com he refers to George Gainer’s paper and lists the hospitals above. He states, “A survey conducted three years later by the Loma Linda University Ethics Department revealed that five of these Adventist hospitals were engaged—like our [Adventist] CMH—in elective abortions.”33 He confirms what many have discovered: it is extremely hard to obtain accurate information about abortions done at Adventist hospitals. He has been able to obtain some information about Washington Adventist Hospital (WAH) in Maryland, however. First he quotes Gainer’s research published both in his paper and in the Washington Post: “As to numbers, participants in the ‘Pastors’ Protest Against Abortion’ [held on October 5, 1985] supplied the figure of 1,494 abortions performed at Washington Adventist Hospital from 1975 through July 1982. They said that the medical records office of the hospital supplied these statistics.”34 This number translates into an average of 213 abortions per year. Interestingly, there is a sudden drop in WAH’s abortion numbers after 2005. Samojluk further refers to independent Catholic investigator Patrick Murebil’s findings: “a decade later the same Adventist hospital reported 547 abortions per year;35 but by 2006 the number of abortions in the same institution dropped to 47, with 48 reported for the 2007 year.”36 For on this issue see http://lifeassuranceministries.org/proclamation/2014/2/abortioninadvent.html. 4. Defective Christology (misunderstanding Jesus as the Michael the archangel). 5. Flawed hermeneutics (improper Bible study interpretation). 6. A wrong view of the church (teaching that they are the only true & proper Christian church). 7. They publish their own Bible and insert their own doctrines into the text. (The Clear Word Bible, among others). 8. Religious cults look at individuals that leave their group as being lost, and without salvation. (When a Christian from another Church joins the Seventh-day Adventist Church, they are said, "to have come into the truth." They are often "encouraged" to be rebaptized.).
