Please enjoy these 5 short stories from the video game Hailo: Combat Devolved.

This video is the culmination of my explorations into AI chatbots (Microsoft Copilot/Bing Chat GPT-4) and AI image creation (Bing’s Designer). The story telling aspect is what interested me the most about these AI language tools. The notion that a computer can quickly generate a completely original story (that makes logical sense) is exciting for the field of art and entertainment.

Personally, I have been having a lot of fun with both of these AI tools (art and chat). The idea behind this video was to use both AI programs to create a singular work of art; by having Bing Chat write several scripts and then have Bing AI Art create the illustrations for said stories. What you see above is the final result.

The 11 Second Club is a website for aspiring and experienced animators, where they can participate in monthly competitions to create the best animated short based on a pre-selected 11 second snippet of dialogue (could be from a Movie, TV show or Video Game). The one main rule of the competition is that the artist cannot, in any way, edit the original dialogue track.
However, because I tend to be a slower artist I instead prefer to use this website as a method of practice for my personal development, meaning that, my animations have never and will never be submitted to the competitions. This allows me to add onto and edit the preexisting audio snippet (as I have done here).
In this particular short I wanted to build up some experience in animating human characters as well as move the story into a very different setting (when compared to the city in my last video ‘Play Dead’). I have also attempted to simulate three-dimensional depth by recreating the use of a multiplane camera (this was done by creating separate pieces in Adobe Photoshop that could then be manipulated in Adobe After Effects).

The dialogue comes from the 11 second club website and can be found under the February 2018 competition:

I obtained the following three songs from the FMA Free Music Archive, which can be found here:

This particular short was a fun way in both knocking off the rust (since I hadn’t animated in over three years) and adding more Flash animation to my portfolio.

This video briefly covers the process of making the Stop Motion 2 film, “The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters”. This short film was produced in the Stop Motion studio at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

The music used in this video is entitled “Oneiri” by Kai Engel. (I do not own the rights to this song; I am simply using it for entertainment/ educational purposes). You can find the full song here- https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Kai_Engel/ICD-10/Kai_Engel_-_ICD-10_-_06_Oneiri

I’m always looking for ways to improve my work and a simple thumb up or down doesn’t tell me specifically what I’m doing right or wrong. So instead, I’d prefer if people leave a comment discussing the video.

In my senior year of college I enrolled in a course called Stop Motion 2. The purpose of the class was to learn how to work as a group in a studio setting and to produce a short film. The concept came from our teacher Adam Savje and the story is based on the etching, ‘The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters’ by Francisco Goya. I was apart of the production team and I did all of the editing on the film.

I started to sketch out ideas for this degree project in the summer of 2014 and finished final edits in April 2015. In the beginning I knew that I wanted to create a stop motion film with soda cans. Through class critiques ideas changed and evolved into what you see here. The music used in this film are titled “Cylinder One” by Chris Zabriskie and “Stourpaine March”, composer unknown. (I do not own the rights to these songs. I am simply using them for entertainment/ educational purposes.)

In this video I wanted to showcase my ability to model and texture objects in Maya. I built half of the scooter from scratch using two reference pictures and I then mirrored the geometry to create a whole vehicle. The music used in this film is “La Vie En Rose by Louis Armstrong. (I do not own the rights to this song nor to the Vespa logo; I am simply using them for educational/ entertainment purposes.)

A short film I made for Animation 4. Our homework was to pick a real place and then make an animation that recreated the spirit of that location. I chose my hometown. The song used in this piece is entitled, “Laserdisc” by Chris Zabriskie. (I do not own the rights to this song; I am simply using it for entertainment/ educational purposes.)

This was my final project for the class Advanced Character Animation at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. The goal of the project was to use multiple layers of vellum paper to create a sense of 3-dimentional depth in the overall scene. The story is simple: an animate flower tries to find the perfect vase.

I made this film in response to an assignment for my animation portfolio class. The car shown in this video is a 2015 ford fusion (stock car variant) and it was made entirely from cut construction paper. The music is titled Prelude No. 3 by Chris Zabriskie (I do not own the rights to this song; I am purely using it for non-profit, entertainment/ educational purposes.)

What if breakfast could make itself....? That was the homework prompt a fellow student gave me. For my animation I came up with the idea of anthropomorphic slices of bead paying tribute to humans (in a King Kong sort of way). This film was my final project for Stop Motion 1. I wanted to make a film that utilized everything I had learned that semester. I also wanted to include the stop motion puppet I had made. This was a short homework assignment for my Design for Animators class. We had to find a snippet of dialogue from any video of our choosing and then create an animation using only words, similar to the popular Dot Dot Dot animation by Ricepirate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z2Z23SAFVA

I chose to use a quote from the season 9, Seinfeld episode, “The Strike”.

This was a short film I made for Animation 3. For homework everyone was given a single word to make an animation from. I got the word ‘Coin’. From there I decided to make my film about the life cycle of a coin. The songs used in this video are, “Blackout” by Zulus and “66/55” by Westy Reflector. (I do not own the rights to these songs; I am simply using them for entertainment/ educational purposes.)
