First instalment of a great little mini-series from the 1980s, with that amazing score. Narrated by Martin Sheen.

Obviously taken from a taped original and somewhat low bandwidth, but sound is OK. :)

Re-uploaded due to earlier uploads starting to fail; in reverse order for ease of viewing.

Fourth instalment of a great little mini-series from the 1980s, with that amazing score. Narrated by Martin Sheen.

Obviously taken from a taped original and somewhat low bandwidth, but sound is OK. :)

Another ridiculous helping from Plympton, with surreal distortions and combinations. Enjoy!

Classic scifi from 1955. Test pilot and scientist Cal Meacham (Rex reason) experiences an ET encounter which takes him safely to landing during a dangerous test flight. He is invited to build a communication device called an Interositor which allows him to speak with their leader, Exeter (Jeff Morrow). He is then invited to contribute to the aliens' research and meets several familiar faces, including Ruth Adams (Faith Domergue) and Steve Carlson (Russell Johnson) and is taken to their homeworld to assist in their survival... but it's too late.

Interesting points:

1: Rex Reason had a brother, Rhodes Reason, who made an appearance in ST:TOS S2 Ep. 25: "Bread and Circuses".

2: Has a great example of an anthropomorphic (but not human) mutant.

3: Won the 1956 Golden Reel Award for Best Soundtrack (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047577/awards/?ref_=tt_awd).

This is an obviously 3D video, as the visible separation of red and blue components attests.

A true scifi classic. Enjoy!

Yet another view of a scifi future that never happened, but great to see so many actors who were current at the time.

Bill Kemp (James Olson, never could see enough of him) is an astronaut who landed on Mars, but nowadays he is involved in salvage of things like satellites on the Moon.

Also stars Ori Levy, Catherine Schell, Warren Mitchell, Bernard Bresslaw, Adrienne Corri and Dudley Foster. Watch out for Michael Ripper (many Hammer horror films), Sam Kydd (Orlando), Carol Cleveland (Monty Python) and Neil McCallum as the Space Captain.

Directed by Louis Malle (of "Pretty Baby", er, fame), Jacques-Yves Cousteau and the crew of the Calypso demonstrate their various activities around the world's oceans.

The film commisioned by Hitler and directed by the late Leni Riefenstahl.

Commentators at IMDB (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0025913/reviews) describe this as a work of art: and also propaganda for the newly-elected National Socialist Party.

This is the original, 4:3 aspect ratio, non-AI-colourised version.

Bill Shatner presents a discussion of the origins of life on Earth and strange spaceman-like statuettes and pictures from around the world, and discusses possible methods of space flight and whether life might exist elsewhere in the universe, asking the opinions of a series of guest speakers, with mentions of Erich von Däniken. He also looks at megalithic structures around the world and the Nazca Plain figures, UFOs and various other mysteries.

Another Alan Landsburg show, again with voiceover by Rod Serling.

A mixed bag of nysteries including Nazca and associated sites in Peru, the Bermuda Triangle, theories about the origins of life, the Antikythera Mechanism, crystal skulls and ancient jewellery, anomalous pictures and figurines, ancient Peruvian trepanations, the craft encountered by Ezekiel, lost Mediterranean peoples, etc.

Somewhat low-res and pixellated, but still has some interesting points.

Such memories!

Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his team set out from Monaco Harbour to the Red Sea to investigate the lives and biology of sharks, to find out if they remain in one place or migrate, and what factors could cause them to attack humans. Are shark repellents effective? The divers test a series of different physical barriers for protection in shark-infested waters.

Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his team travel to the Indian Ocean around the Maldives to investigate life on coral reefs. There follows a long sequence of interactions and experiments involving their inhabitants, culminating in a deeper dive with decompression.

Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his team travel to the island of Europa in the Indian Ocean to test two new mini-subs. Onshore, the divers set up a base camp to observe the local turtles deposit their eggs, and later the young turtles hatch and make their way to the ocean - but not without hazards.

Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his team travel to the open Indian Ocean to observe whales. They use adapted harpoons to attach buoys to the whales temporarily to allow them to be tracked more easily. Plus some assorted bits of whaling history. Later, off the coast of the Maldives, a chunk of partly-eaten giant squid leads the team to a group of sperm whales, which are likewise tagged and followed by radar at night.

Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau discusses the history of the submersible, starting with the testing of a new mini-sub for his own use off the coast of Baja, California, and compares the issues surrounding them with other cases, such as the difficulties of space travel, and demonstrates examples of the most modern submersibles of the time (1970-71).

Interestingly, Cousteau's collaborations with Auguste Piccard on the original Bathyscaphe fails to mention that Piccard was better known previously for his work on balloons.

In a kind of preamble to the succeeding episodes, Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau shows examples from around the world demonstrating why the sea is important - and the challenges of living there, human or not.
