Welcome to Blood and Song, a podcast hosted by yours truly, Byron de la Vandal, and my partner in crime, Paddy Tarleton. This podcast is dedicated to the discussion of traditional American music as well as topics that pertain to the genre.
On this episode, we’ll be discussing Woody Guthrie: the man, his music and his politics. In the second half, we shall discuss why leftist folkies even exist, and what it is that draws them to this music. In addition, we shall also discuss our histories in the music community.

This animated film looks at the key questions and controversies surrounding British identity. Within our modern, multicultural society, can we identify a single national identity? If so, what does being British mean? Are some people more British than others?
Using authentic archival illustrations, the film grapples with these questions in a fun and accessible way. In addition, the film examines the other facets of identity, such as sexuality, ethnicity and personal taste. It serves as both an informative summary of modern Britain, as well as a platform upon which teachers may push further debate.

Teaching Citizenship or Modern Studies?
Encourage the students to think about their own identity and what the most important factors for them are personally. Encourage them to think about how their own personal identity in relation to some of the stereotypes of British identity. You could arrange a class debate exploring what it means to be British today.
This film is relevant for teaching Citizenship at Key Stage 4 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and National 4 and 5 Modern Studies in Scotland.

Therefore they must not be afraid of the hostility which their adversaries manifest towards them but they must take it as a necessary condition on which their whole right to existence is based. Every calumny and falsehood published by the Jews are tokens of honour which can be worn by our comrades. He whom they decry most is nearest to our hearts and he whom they mortally hate is our best friend.
If a comrade of ours opens a Jewish newspaper in the morning and does not find himself vilified there, then he has spent yesterday to no account. For if he had achieved something he would be persecuted, slandered, derided and abused. Those who effectively combat this mortal enemy of our people, who is at the same time the enemy of all Aryan peoples and all culture, can only expect to arouse opposition on the part of this race and become the object of its slanderous attacks.
When these truths become part of the flesh and blood, as it were, of our members, then the movement will be impregnable and invincible.
