In this episode, we look at the film "The Lorax" from a libertarian perspective and discuss what Adam feels it really is: anti-capitalist propaganda, which is different from the pro-environment message of the original Dr. Seuss book.

In this episode, back in August 2019, a podcaster who goes (or went?) by the name Ty 420 hosted a debate between two of the 2020 Libertarian candidates: Kim Ruff and Dan "Taxation is Theft" Behrman. Ty asked great questions about borders and immigration, socialism, and the drug war. This debate shows how even within libertarianism, people have different ideas.

This episode was in the summer of 2019, and we took the "I Side With" quiz to see how well we matched up with the political parties and candidates, and how we compared to each other on various themes such as privacy vs. security, regulation vs. deregulation, tough vs. tender, etc. Take the quiz for yourself; how do your results compare to ours?

In this episode we covered the Miami Democratic Debates from 2019. While most of the candidates aren't relevant anymore, the topics that Lisa's husband delves into are still very relevant: healthcare; do Amazon and other large corporations pay taxes; what a forced minimum wage does to prices and small businesses; refinancing student debt; and what it's actually going to take for our country to adopt green technology.

Happy Father's Day! In this episode we talk about why having a father in the home is so important, and how fathers can be more involved in their children's life, one step at a time. There's a decent amount of Larry Elder in here because Lisa thought he has some really good things to say; and there's a lot of Jordan Peterson in here, too, because he's been a big inspiration to Adam.

It should go without saying, but we want to make it clear that the views and opinions in this video in no way reflect the views and opinions of Larian Studios.

In this episode, Lisa picks up where she and Adam left off last time, talking about how Christianity sees the 7 Deadly Sins vs. how Islam sees them. She then continues with Nonie Darwish's comparisons of how the religions view the 10 Commandments, Islam's version of feminism, and where Muslims' aversion to dogs comes from. Lastly, Lisa shows the utter ignorance (or possibly deception) of the LDS church regarding Islam.

In this episode, we cover Nonie Darwish's book "Wholly Different: Why I Chose Biblical Values Over Islamic Values". As American ex-Mormons, Adam and Lisa grew up with the propaganda that Islam worships the same God as Christianity, just under a different name. Nonie Darwish gives good insights into Islam (which is why as atheists we're interested in this book) and shows in detail how Christianity and Islam are in fact wholly different from each other.

For our first libertarian book review, Adam wanted to cover a book that he feels is a good introduction to libertarianism: Matt Kibbe's "Don't Hurt People and Don't Take Their Stuff: A Libertarian Manifesto".

In this episode, Lisa shares her thoughts as an ex-Mormon about things she picked up on during the April 2019 General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She will be covering each of the General Conferences as one of the extra topics of the podcast.

Adam has a debate about God at the high school with preacher and philosophy professor Josh Walker. Josh asked that we do not edit the debate, and we agreed with one exception: during Adam's introduction, the announcements came on over the loudspeaker, so we edited out that announcement. Everything else is intact. We also did our best to increase the volume on the students' voices during the Q&A so they could be heard better.

With the exception of Adam, none of the characters shown in this video are meant to depict anyone in attendance (and even then, Adam isn't that short). Any resemblance of the characters to actual people in the room is purely coincidental.

Half of our podcast is reviewing books that have to do with atheism and libertarianism. In this episode we list off some books that we want to cover in future episodes. (Please excuse Lisa's sound; she was still tweaking her mic settings)

In this third and final introductory episode for our podcast, we talk about our journey from the Republican and Democrat parties to libertarianism. We also highlight topics we'll be covering in future episodes. (We've since updated what we cover: we've replaced current events with films—see the very short episode 21.5 for details https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-21-5-changing-up-our-format/id1455784521?i=1000446693060 ).

In our second podcast episode, we covered how we went from growing up as faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to becoming atheists.

Welcome to the first video of our Governing Ourselves podcast. We are two libertarian atheists who left The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (a.k.a. the Mormons) and who left the Republican and Democrat parties. In this first episode, we give a brief history of where we're coming from and why we've chosen to start this podcast.

Welcome to the Libertatheists podcast (formerly Governing Ourselves), with hosts Adam and Lisa. We are two libertarian atheists who grew up in and left The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (a.k.a. The Mormon Church) and who left the Republican and Democrat parties. In our weekly podcast, we discuss books, films, and extra religious/political topics through our libertarian-atheist lens.

Our first goal for this podcast is to introduce listeners to essential people and ideas associated with libertarianism and atheism. Our other goal is to show folks who are dissatisfied with religion and with the major political parties that there is life and hope for individuals and for our society if we learn to let go of our dependence on God and on the government, and instead learn to govern ourselves.
