I played the original Persona 5 together with my girlfriend when the game was first released. We both enjoyed our time together, laughing alongside the Phantom Thieves, waiting for the plot twists to unravel, and rolling our eyes at all the silliness. As the credits finally rolled we felt initially satisfied with the journey. However, our opinions of the game turned steadily sour over the years after we took some time to analyze what actually happened in the story.

Now, with the release of Persona 5 Royal, we decided to jump back in and see what new content Atlus had cooked for us. Let’s just say that the experience was less than savory…
