SUN SAILOR. A Solar and Wind Powered Electric Catamaran
Ive been visioning converting a diesel/wind powered catamaran into a solar/wind powered catamaran for the last 8 years. I have been inspired by the desire to be energy self sufficient and non reliant on fossil fuels. I have also felt this solar powered cat would be a great platform and example to promote clean renewable energy and care for the natural environment including the ocean, the air, and the marine creatures that rely on a clean and healthy ocean. I dont feel that I need to explain the urgency to reduce our carbon footprint or the importance of keeping our oceans and marine ecosystem in a healthy condition.

Around 4000 people gathered and marched through the streets and heard great speakers. See video below. Sailing the Great Barrier Reef in Migaloo 2. After 3 moths of preparation which included reconditioning the motor, we start the 6 month journey crossing the Brunswick bar heading to Brisbane and with the goal to get to the Witsunday Islands in the Great Barrier Reef.
Bio:
Dean Jefferys is an independent Filmmaker and an Environmental activist. He has made Four, TV, documentaries about Indigenous issues in the Amazon, Rainforest logging in Borneo, and the Iraq war in 1991 and 2001. Dean owns and Skippers his own yacht called Migaloo 2, which he uses to highlight marine conservation issues and deepen his connection with the migrating humpback whales. He has been sailing to the whales in Hervey Bay for the last 15 years spending months at a time being and communicating with the whales.
Dean uses the video and the online format to raise awareness about important issues facing humanity and the plant and animal kingdom. Dean has been on the front line of many activists battles over the last 30 years with both a a megaphone and a camera, from Free Julian Assange, to Five G, to peace, environmental and social issues. He has been arrested and jailed for his beliefs many times. Dean spent 2 years in the amazon living with the tribal people learning their culture and some of their shamanic practices as well as helping them defend their land from oil miners and colonists. Dean is currently making a new documentary called “The Toad the Whale and the Sun” covering many of his passions.
Dean runs 4 FB groups totalling 11000 members and runs 4 FB pages. He speaks at international Shamanic conventions and is a well respected community activist. Dean has currently 3500 subscribers on his Youtube channel and has uploaded over 80 short videos over the last10 years. Dean is the man on the ground and the water determined to bring light to controversial issues effecting humanity and all life.
