A very good Amiga - only Arkanoid clone released by reLine in 1987, running on an Amiga 500 with a Commodore 1084 CRT monitor.
Fast and smooth, with great music. It expands upon Arkanoid by adding some new features, but is plagued by collision detection problems.

One of the best Public Domain Game Disks released for the Amiga in 1991, running on an Amiga 500 with a 1084 CRT monitor.
It features three very well made games: Invaders, Gridrunner and Rebound.

REM *** User's memories ***
This was one of my favourite PD Disks. Very well-made, with excellent sound effects and music. I used to play Gridrunner and Invaders a lot. Rebound didn't load (gave me a Guru), until I bought a 1MB expansion.
Overall, very professional for a PD production. Loved this disk. Good job guys!

ACE - Air Combat Emulator. The popular 1985 game by Cascade Games. A mini review by the Computer, plus comparison with a real Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum, unboxing and gameplay of a single mission on the Commodore 64, with a 1084 CRT monitor.

REM *** User's memories ***
All the kids were crazy about it back in the day. I didn't have a Computer in '85, so some friends who had Amstrad CPCs used to give me detailed descriptions of the game. When I bought a computer and finally played it, I wasn't impressed at first because I expected a simulator. As an action game though, it wasn't bad at all.

Mr. Computer's new year's resolutions for more retro computer videos, more unboxings, more magazines, more patches and game translations, more programs and games. Mr. Computer, all Microcomputers in the family and the User, wish you all a Happy New Retro Year.

My fix for the notorious bug found in the AGA and CD32 versions of Gunship 2000 for the Amiga, which renders your missiles ineffective when commanding a flight (eg. during a Campaign).
The video contains the bug description, patch download and installation instructions.

My fix for the "Billy Bob Bug". Not a serious bug, but I thought I'd patch it anyway.
Users of the Greek translation patch don't need to install this one, as I've already included it.
As an extra for WB1.3 Hard Disk users, I added the option for a 4 color icon and a new startup script. By using that you can start the game from Workbench by just clicking on the icon and it won't ask you to insert disk-1 anymore.

Unboxing a Quickjoy VI "Jetfighter" (SV-126) digital joystick, from the late 80s, or early 90s.
It was advertised in computer magazines along with the Quickshot V, and others by the same company.
This is the microswitches version. The control is good, but the joystick is not very durable.

Unboxing the 1084S P2 CRT Monitor by Commodore. It is a PAL/NTSC screen which was mainly used with Amiga and Commodore 64 retro computers.
Everything shown here, from the Box down to the Cables and Plastic Bags, are the ones that originally came with it when I bought it in 1991.
I got this one for my Amiga 500, but I eventually used it with all my computers, as well as for watching TV and Video Tapes.

Unboxing what is from my experience, THE BEST joystick of the 80s and 90s, for home computers.
Bought this one back in 1993. The box may have seen better days, but the joystick has been working flawlessly throughout the decades, still being as good as new.
It's also known as Pacman and Starfigher 2000 with some versions having buttons on both sides, as well as Autofire.
It's made in Greece by Aneroussis Control and it was the most popular joystick in the country.
I don't think it was ever exported, but I'm sure it could have easily leveled the competition.
The manufacturer used to make coin-op controllers as far as I know, so basically this is a coin-op joystick put in a small box.
As a result, only the joysticks found on arcade machines can compare to its premium control and durability.
Tomahawk... RESPECT!

Unboxing an unused Quickjoy V "Superboard" (SV-125) digital joystick, from the late 80s.
I first read a computer magazine article about it in 1989, so it was probably released during that year, or in 1988.
I bought one with my Amiga 500. It was quite good (especially for flight simulators) but not very durable, so it didn't take too long for the micro-switches to start failing.

A Flight Simulator of the F-14 Tomcat and the F/A-18 Hornet, developed by Maverick Simulation and published by Psygnosis in 1993.
It features good graphics and sound, with nice 3d models, engine sounds and sampled speech.
There is also weather and day/night simulation, as well as a strategic element with the featured Desert Strom Campaign.
The avionics and flight model implementation is generally good compared to some older simulators, although the controls are either touchy or unresponsive at times, making formations and aerial refueling a bit hard. Other than that, gameplay is quite easy and it can run adequately on a stock Amiga 500.
Summing up, CAP is a good flight simulator for the Amiga.

The Mig-29 Flight Simulator by Simis. The Atari ST version was converted by Myomantic and published by Domark in 1991.
It features satisfactory 3D graphics and sound, although the sound effects are somewhat limited.
The advanced flight model option has been preserved in the Atari ST conversion giving a more realistic aircraft behaviour.
The analogue controls are good, but very touchy, especially when using the mouse.
It is a very good flight simulator for the Atari ST.

The Mig-29 Flight SImulator by Simis which was published by Domark in 1991.
It features satisfactory 3D graphics at very good frame-rates, thanks to the processing power of the Archimedes, but limited sound effects.
The controls are very good, but quite tricky if you play using the mouse. In addition, the Archimedes version features the advanced flight model option, adding to the game's realism.
It is one of the best flight simulators for the Archimedes.

The Mig-29 Flight SImulator by Simis. The Amiga version was developed by Myomantic and published by Domark in 1991.
It features satisfactory 3D graphics and sound, with a beautiful intro song, but only the necessary sound effects.
Gameplay is quite easy and the option for analogue control by mouse or joystick (even though a bit touchy) adds to realism.
Unfortunately this conversion doesn't have the advanced flight model option found in other versions.
Despite that, it is a very good flight simulator for the Amiga.

A M-1 Abraams tank simulator by MicroProse. The Atari ST version was released in 1990.
It has got nice graphics and the sound is OK.
As far as realism is concerned, it is quite good, probably the best tank simulator for home micros, since it simulates three tank positions and some systems quite well.
Furthermore, it also has strategy elements, giving you control of all four tanks in your platoon, as well as allowing you to issue commands to other vehicles like M-2s and M-113s. In addition, you can also request air support and artillery fire.
It is a very good game for the Atari ST.

An Amiga only helicopter simulator developed by Bitfusion in 1995.
It has got very nice 3D graphics and sound.
As far as realism is concerned, controls are too simplified and gameplay is easy, so it is rather focused on entertaining the player by putting him/her in a dynamic battlefield.
There are good features like the TADS and an impressive Virtual Cockpit.
Summing up, it is an impressive and fun game to play.
