PROP - working in progress#2

Hosted by upRisingUp Project - Preludio Estate 2020

I look at my body insistently, soon I will ask it to modify his structure to lose that neutrality. I will ask it to change, to expand, to grow new appendices, to be something else.

When a body is put into relationship, what does it say? How can it be looked at?
Can you meet on your own What's the line between you and me? Where do I start? Where do I end up?  Where do you start? How to undo the border?  How to make it visible? What is agency? Who is moving who?

At the center of the work is the relationship between a human body and a non-human body. Identity and otherness draw on and refer to each other while a new body and a new perception of the environment are born from the effort to adapt.
The performance speaks to the relationship/transformation of the bodies before and during the encounter through the synergy or friction among choreography, projection and soundscape.

Soliloquio a due
performance about the selfhood

Soliloquio a due tells the biographical story of a body/persona as the subject and object of experience, of care and practice. Implying reciprocal interaction, Soliloquio a due surges from the convergent fascination of a dancer and an illustrator for the human body.
Multi-faceted portraits of the dancer reference the tradition of representative graphic anatomy yet dissolve into symbol and metaphor. They embrace or jostle the unique, singular, performative body; at once object and subject/agent of action.
Projected on the far wall, are pages from an atlas, anatomical cartography.
Photographic images, illustrations reworked through technical variant, content or spirit. Is it possible that the body gives itself once for all time? Is the biological entity the true custodian of identity? What are the visible or invisible details that make up a body or its representation? Created in dialogue with both graphic representations and living presence of the body, Alessandro Bartolena’s evocative sonic ambient affirms and deepen perception.

Implied lines

dance movie about otherhood
A reflection on plurality.
Presences, absences, languages, realities.
When a body is put into relationship, what does it say?
How can it be looked at?
How can it collaborate with other bodies even if they seem hostile? How can it recognize their identities, potentials and limits? How can it be received?
How does it receive them?
How do I keep a fluid perception of the border between what is me and what is not me?
Going slowly up and downstairs. Walking or rolling, adapt to the presence of other bodies on the way. Unforseen a priori, the choreographic action
reveals the reasoning of the body through slowness, repetition, adaptation and subtle changes of physical states.
The work speaks of the relationship / transformation; bodies before an encounter and bodies during an encounter. Identity and otherness refer to each other while a new body is born, the result of adaptation.
