My giant sulcata tortoises usually dig all day sometimes for several days until they are happy and then lay there eggs well into the night however Mildred has layed in daylight hours which is great news for me.

I usually sow some seeds each morning today I sowed some cucumber marketmore seeds, I have used some homemade paper pots as they can be planted straight into the garden after all risk of frost has gone.

This is one of Poppy and Guppy`s baby eggs hatching.
Poppy layed 5 viable eggs this time I am just waiting for the last egg to pip.
They usually all pip within a few days of each other the 1st one hatched 3 days ago.

This is just how I open the holes for ease of removing the plants.
If you want to give it a go I would recommend doing it outside and have some water near by just in case.

I have been using this tape for many years now it works wonders.
If you have a tortoise that likes to hide then I recommend this, It is just a florescent clothing strip with a sticky back, they are available all over the internet.
Just clean and dry tortoise shell at the back and stick it on, you will need to renew it every so often but well worth a try.
It does not hurt and can be washed off.

I sow anywhere from January to April in a heated greenhouse, at about 10/15 °C Day and Night. Once germinated I lower the temperature to about 5/10°C. If weather is mild no heat will be required but plenty of light will be required.

I don`t soak or chit my sweet peas 1st.
I use clear plastic cups that last for years so i can see the roots easily.

Just a little video of what I am sowing today.
Each day I try to sow something, today it was freckles lettuce my sons favorite lettuce.

Lettuce seed will last about 5 years if stored correctly, cool and dry.
Good germination can be anywhere between 4c to 27c.
Harvesting can be anywhere between 15 to 60 days.

Our garden is a bog !!!

It has been a very wet UK winter this year, I think it has been the wettest winter for many many years.

It has been raining for weeks now and all our grass has gone so we are taking some of the tortoises for a walk to our local park just to get a good feed.

Meanwhile I have been re seeding the garden, fingers crossed we get the grass back soon.

Anyone else have this problem and what do you do to solve it ?

This is how I make my square loo roll holder paper pots for my seeds.
Its so simple and you can sow seeds like carrots that do not like to be pricked out.
You can just plant straight into the garden when ready, they biodegrade in the soil.
How do you do yours ?

I have just been sowing some Dahlia Pomone seeds.
I usually sow some seeds each morning when I check up on my Tortoises.
The packet says approx 150 seeds, these seeds need to be sown in spring at 18 to 20 deg C.

After of a few hours research finally I figured it out its a Pawpaw Fruit Tree Asimina triloba in a 3L Pot.
But the slug pellets are a worry.
Why do sellers have to put these killers on plants.
I understand they need to protect plants but really do they need to send them to customers ?
