We have been told in western religious circles that Jesus of Nazareth and his disciples picked grain on the Sabbath to show and prove that the Sabbath day was no longer binding or needed. Western theology has made it appear that Jesus of Nazareth was in a religious struggle against 'Judaism' and he intended to bring about a 'new religion', which we call today Christianity. Jesus of Nazareth was not in a religious struggle against religious leaders, trying to prove to them that Moses, the law and the Sabbath, was no longer binding. We will seek to prove that the conflict in the field on the Sabbath was not a religious confrontation, but a confrontation dealing with the social political science of a class of people, who were poor and oppressed.

To many the good news of salvation is a warm fuzzy feeling or a vague promise that one day–after you die– you’ll float off to the sterile vacuum of heaven…far, far away. While this is nice in theory, it is, by implication, delusional. Yet this is the party line of the Western Church, its central offering and, in the last analysis, the greatest barrier to God’s greatest aim.
The positing of mystified salvation and all its necessary dogma presupposes the teaching of Christ be kept to the rigors of thought, shut off from the outside world. While captive to these thoughts, the mass church lies idle with its theology off in the clouds– in heaven (wherever it is) — not only by first reducing the material power of Christ to whimsical relief in some distant after life; but also by prohibiting the expression of faith beyond mental activity. What remains to be applied while you are alive, then, can only dealt with in abstractions — dead energy — to become dead religion.
A fool’s paradise is in part believable because the alienating and oppressive qualities of Western society are seen as organic institutions, and by consequence any significant analysis of the status quo within the frame work of historic Jesus (the communist) is limited by Western ideology. This is why any sense of his materiality (e.g. social justice, etc.) making up the spirit of God is hard gained. To the Western mind, for example, capitalism and its debilitating social dynamic is something Jesus approved of too. Capitalism then, cannot be inherently evil or something to overcome. In fact, there is no such thing as social problems in the eyes of the Western Church that a “band-aid” cannot cover. Thus, the journey to Western heaven is now far, far away and unrealized on earth; because what Jesus represents for social, collective togetherness against systemic oppression conflicts with Western practice. Jesus, in turn, becomes an individual, personal message tailored to every whim: a togetherness of self. This is why a new Western Christian can become an over night master of his own doctrine. A shallow master he is, devoid of any social-political concept of a bible packed with social-political currents. All he knows is a stripped down reduction: “Jesus loves my flesh.”
Today it’s no longer a question if the West can maintain any integrity to Christ. When mass Christianity is itself pregnant with an oppressive, violent and sick child – the image of its own society – it stands no chance and falls back into an inversion, into a collective sigh of the "oppressed creature." And depending on who is talking, Western Christianity is either the world’s most profound expression of the Gospel or its biggest betrayal. But these days a simpler description suffices: it is dead.

A popular understanding in many so-called Christian sects is a fantastic belief that there is and has been a type of literal war beyond the stars: of God against Satan, the fallen angles against the angles of light, between Nephilim and man, of the good army struggling to overcome armies of darkness. To get this understanding many students refer to the book of Revelation and interpret literally that Satan and his angles were physically cast out of heaven and down to earth. They then place the beginning of this galactic war back and before Genesis, before the creation of man. This accompanied perhaps by other precepts, sets the stage for an intergalactic space drama with a cast of wonderful characters. It is held fast that a climax will soon manifest: the moon turns to literal blood, the sun burns up, the stars crash to earth’s crust and the elements, atoms, molecules literally fizzle, crack and pop away in end time cataclysm.
Enter Jesus who gallops on a flesh-and-blood horse through the vacuum of space and into the stratosphere. He comes quickly to gather into the clouds the saints- who stand naked next to their neatly folded clothes. Just moments before, the Pope declares himself God, the temple in Jerusalem becomes desecrated and the chip is administered. China and Russia randomly, recklessly lunch nuclear missiles unintelligibly to and fro. Chaos ensues. Monsters rise up out of the seas. The oceans are blood. The long anticipated great tribulation dawns the horizon while the contemporary Christian, more than ever, is ready to live ‘glory’ to ‘glory’ and is rapture ready.
The only problem with the scenario is that it plays out in pure thought, and in the meanwhile, in reality, man is being oppressed by violent, complex systems of exploitation on earth.

Religious organizations today and the head men who institute the schools of theology have done their best to depoliticize the prophets, the Messiah, and the apostles. When they find themselves reading the bible they cause the laity, the populous, to only focus and concentrate on the symbolism of different stories, putting most of the emphases on a shallow understanding or first layer without getting into it historically. Especially in capitalist countries. A great deal of money has been invested to keep the people clouded in this type of limited study. This ignorance does have a price and a great many, as a result, are cheated out of life itself.
In the hands of Western theology the bible is anything but the blue print in the redemptive struggle of humanity. The teachings brought by Jesus of Nazareth today become convoluted and what the Creator is asking from the people now becomes a mystery. The enemies of God have turned the books of the bible into, by and large, a fantasy where as a result man finds himself waiting to die for his relief while a ruling class assemble and reap the earth’s wealth. This is simply not the case. The earth is a glorious creation of God and he placed man on it to dress and keep it. By breaking free of these shackles you will find that the Hebrew scriptures deal heavy handed in politics, economics, justice and equity, from Genesis to the book of Revelation. You will not go far into reading without running into the class struggle between the oppressed and oppressor.
It is God working in the hearts and minds of man that will usher in his kingdom of justice and equity on earth. For all the nations and families of earth who decided to learn and follow his ways. This is his promise made to Abraham and this is the destiny in sight. Education is the first step in any revolution and it is required for the servants of God to be well rounded going forward in this struggle for peace.
