US-based SpaceX’ Starship program and its implications on geopolitics…

- SpaceX continues developing its Starship program after its 2nd integrated flight test (IFT2) on September 18, 2023;

- Starship, when operational, will be the first fully reusable launch system able to recover and reuse both the 1st stage booster like SpaceX’ current Falcon family of rockets, but also the 2nd stage;

- Starship is also the largest, most powerful launch system on Earth at the moment;

- Reusability drives costs down and enables nations with access to such systems to establish orbital infrastructure quicker, cheaper, and on larger scales;

- SpaceX’ Falcon 9 rockets have already allowed SpaceX to create the Starlink constellation of satellites providing lower-latency satellite communication with greater coverage than any other current or even planned networks;

- In the event of conflict in space where nations begin targeting navigational, surveillance, and communication satellites, the nation with the ability to launch new satellites into space quicker and cheaper will have a clear advantage;

- Resources in the Earth’s solar system vastly dwarf resources found on Earth and can support a multiplanetary civilization on a scale of size and abundance hitherto unimaginable, reusability is the key to tapping this potential;

Update on Ukraine, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific for November 19, 2023…

- The Ukraine proxy war is at a dead end with Russia inevitably winning unless the US and its allies intervene more directly;

- Russia has been stockpiling missiles over the past several months for what could be a massive offensive or possibly in preparation for multiple contingencies related to US-NATO involvement in either Ukraine, the Middle East, or both;

- Israel military operations in Gaza continue erasing the civilian population from Gaza City with the Israeli military recently ordering the “evacuation” of the Al Shifa Hospital;

Update on Israeli military operations in Gaza for November 15, 2023...

- Israeli forces have stormed Gaza's largest hospital, claiming Hamas fighters are hiding in/beneath the facility;

- Israeli tactics appear to deliberately maximize regional and international outrage;

- The violence is aimed at pressuring regional governments to take action and trigger a series of conflicts that allow the US to reassert a previous conflict-based "security architecture" on the region;

- As the US rhetorical demands restraint from Israel, it is enabling the worst of its actions through a flood of arms and ammunition sent/being sent to Israel;

- Footage of fighting in Gaza is still inconclusive regarding the vector sum of the combat;

- Hamas footage of striking Israeli tanks do not show clear examples of damage or destruction, yet the loss of Israeli armor crews and even commanders suggests at least some serious losses are taking place;

- If Israel paces itself it can continue its operations longer than previous Gaza incursions, heavy losses (if they are indeed taking place) however may limit the duration of the conflict;

Update on the conflict in the Middle East for November 1, 2023:

- Israel begins ground operations in Gaza;

- In addition to incursions in the north along the Mediterranean Sea and north of Gaza City, there is now Israeli forces moving to cut Gaza City off from the rest of the southern strip;

- This will isolate Hamas and other fighters giving Israel the advantage logistically and in terms of attrition;

- Israel’s tempo is slower than previous operations like 2008-2009 Cast Lead which had lasted only 3 weeks;

- Israel may attempt to wait out Hamas rather than fight it directly and immediately;

- The slower tempo may mitigate domestic political unrest resulting from mounting Israeli losses;

- The US continues its military build-up in the region along with its attempt to frame Iran as responsible for the ongoing conflict;

- Long-standing documented US policy papers admit the US seeks to provoke war with Iran and considers Israel a viable proxy in order to do so;

Update on Israeli military operations in Gaza for November 4, 2023:

- Israel competes encirclement of Gaza City;

- Israel is not responding to the October 7 Hamas raids in a bid to eradicate the organization, but rather using Hamas as a pretext to eradicate Palestinians from northern Gaza;

- Israel admittedly maneuvered Hamas into power specifically to prevent a two-state solution. The current Israeli administration is openly adverse to a two-state solution;

- Hamas’ relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood and its actions in recent history have made it difficult for Gaza’s resistance movement to attract broader and deeper support from the region and beyond;

- Rather than the October 7 raids being “blowback” regarding this policy, it presents the perfect pretext to not only delay negotiations for a two-state solution, but to eliminate its possibility altogether by eliminating Gaza itself;

- Current Israeli operations may be paced at a slower tempo than previous operations to create a sustainable blockade of northern Gaza to wait out rather than find and fight Hamas fighters inside build-up urban areas;

- Israeli warplanes have leveled entire blocks before armored bulldozers clear open spaces giving Israeli long-range heavy weapons like tanks and armored personnel carrier armaments an advantage over more lightly armed Hamas fighters;

- Hamas is leveraging its tunnel network and knowledge of the terrain to ambush Israeli forces creating a mounting cost in manpower and equipment;

- Israel, as it has in previous operations, is racing against multiple clocks including domestic political patience, international political pressure, military logistics, military losses, and economic pressure;

- Hamas will be racing against their own material limitations to inflict a high enough cost on Israeli forces before becoming depleted and vulnerable to a final Israeli clearing operation;

- Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has given his first public speech regarding the Israeli-Gaza conflict since this latest fighting began on October 7, 2023;

- Nasrallah has provided rhetorical support for Hamas and its October 7 raids, however, has distanced Hezbollah, Iran and other nations/organizations in the region from Hamas' preparations and decision to conduct the operation;

- Nasrallah cites Hezbollah's skirmishes with Israeli forces to demonstrate the organization is engaged in the fight, however as Hezbollah has done in past Israeli-Hamas fighting, the organization will not rush to Hamas' aid;

- While Hezbollah has mobilized forces in the past to fight beyond Lebanon's borders, as it did in Syria for the better part of a decade, it understand the true nature of Hamas' origins and actions in recent years, which included sending fighters to Syria where Hezbollah fought them;

- Hezbollah is attempting to support the Palestinian cause without falling into the trap laid out by Hamas' actions;

- Hezbollah, Iran, and even Russia have attempted to influence Hamas to pivot away from their current use as a provocation-on-demand used by US-Israeli policy makers, and toward a legitimate political and resistance organization that can play a constructive role toward peace;

- At the moment, no military support will be lent to Hamas while attempts will continue to reshape Hamas in the future into an organization that could possibly attract wider support, including military support;

- Ukraine's "operational pause" is Kiev annoucning the "Spring Offensive" has for all intents and purposes, ended;

- West continues to suffer setbacks in supplying ammunition to Ukraine including diverting much of it to Israel now;

- Israel continues air and ground attacks on Gaza, compounding a growing humanitarian catastrophe;

- in reality, blasts from rockets, missiles, and artillery shells cause fragmentation and shrapnel traveling far beyond the blast and capable of causing lethal injuries;

- a hand grenade has a comparable death radius to that laid out in this analysis;

- a hand grenades casualty radius is even larger;

- a rocket or missile would have surely killed far more people in a much wider radius than claimed by this analysis;

- the density of civilians surrounding the hospital is also questioned in the analysis, however footage is easily obtainable from Gaza of similar densities specifically at hospitals;

Update on the conflict in the Middle East for October 22, 2023 (Sunday)

- Even before Israel’s ground operation begins, it is requesting scarce artillery ammunition from the US who is diverting it from Ukraine;

- Israeli ground operations in 2006 against Lebanon and 2008-2009 and 2014 in Gaza provide possible insight into the limits of Israeli military power ahead of a potential ground incursion into Gaza now;

- Israel may be able to occupy northern Gaza but will push the limits of military power, its logistical support both domestically and via the US, as well as risk political stability within Israeli society;

Update on the conflict in Ukraine and Israel-Gaza for October 19, 2023:

- Ukraine uses ATACMS missiles to hit Russian airfields, causing damage to several aircraft;

- The missiles exist in too small of quantities versus Russia’s more capable and numerous Iskander missile ballistic and cruise missiles;

- Ukraine will continue to use “wonder weapons” to distract from the overall degradation of its military capabilities;

- Israel is almost certainly behind a recent hospital strike in Gaza;

- Israel demanded these hospitals be evacuated, a virtual death sentence to those being treated there according to the UN;

- Israel already declared a Gaza-wide bombing campaign focused on “damage” over “precision;”

- The strike involved a weapon with destructive power only Israel possess, possibly a guided rocket fired from an Israeli M270 which are admittedly being used to target Gaza (see references below);

- Israel appears to be laying down preparatory fire for a ground incursion which will be a very costly operation in terms of time, manpower, equipment, and ammunition;

- based on other military operations like this in both Gaza in 2014, Fallujah in 2004, and recent fighting in Ukraine, Israel and its US-backers will have stockpiles and military industrial output stretched to the absolute limits leaving little room for error or additional contingencies;

Update on the conflict in Ukraine + Middle East for October 17, 2023

- Russia continues overturning what negligible gains Ukraine made during its over 4 month-long offensive in Zaporozhye;

- Russian operations in Avdeevka continue, however no major “offensive” has been announced by Russian military or political leaders;

- Attempts by Russia to exploit possible opportunities along the line of contact are measured, with limitations identified by Russian commanders in stark contrast to Ukraine’s stand-and-fight approach;

- In the Middle East, fighting continues between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon as Israeli military operations continue to target Gaza;

- Israel has taken action to compel Palestinians to evacuate from northern parts of Gaza in what is likely an attempt to seize the territory and prevent a future return by Palestinians to the area;

- Israel’s continued violation of international law and belligerence toward its neighbors is an unsustainable policy that undermines its own self-preservation, like most US proxies;

- Russia and China are in a better position now than ever to advance the two-state solution and are creating a region in which this solution can actually materialize;
