Late last year I tuned into Andrew Huberman's Huberman Lab Podcast for one of the best 12 hours and 40 minutes of learning I’ve experienced in a long time.

Dr. Paul M. Conti, a Stanford and Harvard trained psychiatrist has empowered the lives of many people around the globe, including Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian and Tommy Hilfiger!

Supported by legendary Huberman hosting, Paul presented the human condition, through sense making dialogue and mind blowing models, that had me listening to the 4 part series over and over again.

In the spirit of true gratitude, I connected with Dr. Paul, thanking him for providing ways of showing my own clients a clearer perspective of self and also cheekily requested a radio interview.

Astounded by his generosity and quietly @#$%$#% myself for perhaps getting in over my head, Paul did not hesitate in accepting and we connected Portland, Oregon with Melbourne, Australia in early February 2024.

Mike Rolls is a survivor of one of the deadliest diseases on the planet - meningococcal.

One day in 2001, this sport-mad teenager headed off on a football trip and then overnight, was fighting for his life, with only a five percent chance of living.

When he regained consciousness, Mike had lost his right leg, half his left foot, two fingers and part of his nose, along with extensive internal injuries.

From here, Mike went on to tackle recovery with what the world now knows as an inherent spirit of resilience and steadfast tenacity.

This characteristic has coloured in so many other spaces that has made Mike an icon of admiration and inspiration for what he is, rather than the turn of events that challenged him.

A proud husband and father, fitness enthusiast, Australian golf champion and passionate advocate, Mike uses his voice to engage all communities, whilst supporting charities Limbs 4 Life and Interplast Australia & New Zealand.

And that’s just the short of it.

Ben Moore is an apiarist [AY] + [PEE] + [UH] + [RIST] (which is the fancy name for a Beekeeper), environmentalist, father, food-lover and owner of Ben's Bees. 🐝 🍯

Being exposed to nature and farming from an early age, and with three decades of experience behind him, Ben started Ben’s Bees in 2008.
Since then, Ben has been very “buzzy” expanding his hive of industry and crosspollinating beekeeping, honey production, safe rehoming of bee colonies - not to mention “swarming” the world with his dedication to advocacy, education and mentoring.

With a focus on ethical and natural beekeeping practices, Ben is committed to educating the community about bees and their vital connection to the environment and our everyday lives.
Ben joined me on Sunday, 16 December for a stinger of a show - covering all the many things about his bee-liefs, well-beeing and many other bee-hiviours.

A range of Australian research identified that over half of all male suicides are not predominantly associated with a mental health diagnosis. Based on coronial reports, male suicides in Australia are: • twice as likely to be linked to bereavement • 3.5 times more likely to be linked to relationship issues • 4 times more likely to be linked to child custody issues • 5 times more likely to be linked to pending or recent unemployment • nearly 9 times more likely to be linked to legal issues • 12 times more likely to be linked to money issues. Relationship coach and men's mentor, Michael Lauria , experienced most of these risk factors, all at once, when, back in 2009, his family unit dismantled. Turning his pain and grief into a journey of self-actualisation and ownership, he set a lifesaving purpose for himself and many other men, penning the Amazon #1 best seller Forging Excalibur - Rediscover your Masculinity. He joined me back on Sunday 7 December, at 94.1FM 3WBC to talk about what it feels like being Michael Lauria and more about his trademark “7 Standards of Men”. Remember, it really is OK to not be OK!!

Quality apprenticeships can provide great purpose for many young people making the transition from school to work, which, may positively impact mental health and sense of worth. Best practice training and mentoring can also boost apprenticeship completion rates which are as low as 53 per cent in Australia.
Holmesglen Apprentice Support Centre, established in 2016 has grown to become Apprentice Central, a collection of Apprentice Support/Engagement Officers and administration staff who go on-site and in classrooms to talk with employers and apprentices about mental health, mentoring, financial and learning support. This team have quickly established as a “tool of trade, and received Gold at the 2018 World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) Awards of Excellence ceremony.
Industry veteran and key collaborator at Apprentice Central, Chris Burkitt, is joined me to share more about this life saving initiative and a whole lot more about what it feels like being Chris Burkitt. Remember, it really is OK to not be OK!!

Earlier this month, I heard what is feels like being playwright, tram driver and all-round life changer, Michael Gray Griffith. We spoke of many things, especially how his creative brilliance led to a witty, enlightening and most of all, empowering address to male suicide, through MAROONED The Play. I saw the production last year, when it was called Suicide Row and again, last week - both times, going away feeling inspired that this kind of realistic, sensitive and respectful messaging is possible.

Over 100 different food producers and makers will be in attendance at each venue, with Man V Food and Cake competitions, live music and kids entertainment, there is something for all the family. The highlight for many people are the fantastic chefs who will be demoing their skills on the main stages throughout each weekend. You can expect to see ex Bake Off Stars such as Francis Quinn, Luis Troyano, Jane Beedle, Sandy Docherty and Howard Middleton. Howard said 'I'm really looking forward to coming back to do these events, they are such fun and always a lovely crowd, I especially like seeing, and trying, all the public creations in the cake off'.

One of the event organisers, Daniel Maycock, says this year will be better and bigger than ever before 'We are always keen to keep pushing the events on year on year, with that in mind we have added a Bake Stage at each event, which is more interactive and relaxed than the main stage, as well as a Drinks 'Masterglass' stage, where we will do tastings and talks. All included in the entry price. We hope to offer a fun foodie day out for the whole family.'

The events, starting on May Bank Holiday at Hardwick Hall Derbyshire are now all over the country, as far south as London and Wiltshire and up to the Scottish Boarders, taking in some iconic British buildings throughout the summer, ending at Arley Hall, Cheshire in late September.

Have a listen to this grouse moment, talking to legend ruckman Simon Madden about 80's footy! We shared many things like, doing good when you can, how to handle what you get, boys with anorexia, AFL players and mental, spiritual and emotional health, freedom, social media and of course the good old days and so much more. We even unpacked the iconic 1981 LP, "Footy Favourites", showcasing Bombers Tim Watson's career questioning debut of Ruby, Don't take your love to town https://lnkd.in/g2GFdQQ. #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #workplacementalhealth #depression #anxiety #men #menshealth #leadership #spiritual #anorexia #malesuicide #menandboyshealth #suicideprevent #mentoo #dads #emotionalhealth

Australia’s first ever, funded, National Men’s Health Strategy was recently launched - allocating more that $19 million over the next decade to improve the health and well being of every Australian man and boy. Thinking about how this strategy and funding can best serve our boys and men, international photographer, Leisa Hartnett and her high performance leadership husband, Rob Hartnett sacrificed their special mother’s day morning to come and talk about what it’s felt like, raising three stellar men. Dispelling the stereotypical myth of snips, snails & puppy dog tails – we discussed why sugar and spice are also lovely masculine attributes. Big kids themselves, Rob and Leisa also sharede what it’s felt like being partners, parents, son & daughter. T #menshealth #boyshealth #malesuicide #mothersday #suicideprevention #mentalhealth

It was big, warm hugs back on Sunday 10 February when I caught up with the worlds greatest metaphoric cuddler, Lance Picioane, CEO and founder of Love Me Love You foundation. He had his arms wide open to embrace a whole bunch of my questions about what it feels like, being him! Lance played AFL for 8 years, experiencing what he thought was a dream career, but behind closed doors, lived with pretty serious mental health challenges. These days Lance connects with the community, through his non-profit organisation, Love Me Love You - striving to empower and build personal resilience - helping challenge the cruel stigma, often connected mental health issues.

Recognising that approximately 20% of Australia’s population is made up of dads, I got together with Jeremy Macvean (Movember) back on 14 April, and we talked about his latest global initiative, The Father Hood. Along with co-conspirators, Luke Benedictus and Andrew McCutcheon, they stepped up and created something, very different and super engaging, to better support this huge community of guys and their families.
.
The Father Hood, is a new media platform and community, designed to help dads survive and thrive. It’s a lifestyle resource that delivers support, inspiration and daily laughs to dads, through content and events. The brand encourages fathers to navigate with less stress and more confidence, using language and approach to help dismantle the negative stereotype of ‘dad’.
Redefining the modern experience, where men are raising kids in all kinds of environments.
Jeremy and his team believe that becoming a father is the greatest opportunity a man can get - they also get that fatherhood changes you. fatherhood changes everything. I loved hearing what it feels like, being Jeremy and all about The Father Hood,

A touching and sometimes hilarious insight into the life of Shane Gibbons .. and ordinary guy telling some queer and quirky stories.

In 1979 Rob Gell's “Four Day Forecast” revolutionised the way television weather was presented. For 31 years, he brought authority, information and credibility to TV news - introducing pretty cool things, like satellite image sequences, integrated pressure analyses and pretty much, helped viewers make sense of it all. I caught up with Rob recently - sparking a “university education” styled conversation - endorsing that Rob Gell, truly is, an amazingly informed spokesperson on environmental and media issues. He links strongly with the scientific and conservation communities, giving a convincing and compelling insight into the thinking and philosophies around these intricate issues. Now heading Rethink Sustainability, Rob and his team are passionate about helping organisations thoughtfully and knowledgeably transition to environmentally sustainable operations that, in turn support the well being of their people. Hear what it feels like being Rob Gell right here.

It never fails to astound me that, every minute of every day, another man kills himself somewhere in the world …. at the same time, at least another 20 are trying – My guest tomorrow, Jake Edwards, is a fourth generation AFL player who describes one of his proudest moments in life - running out onto the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in front of 80,000 people.. in the same breath he discloses the lowest point … facing a bathroom mirror, contemplating how to end his life.

7 years later, in 2015 Jake pulled out all the stops and created a welfare and education program for Australian sporting clubs, called "Outside the Locker Room", which in almost 4 years, has become one of the most sought after and well recognised programmes being used by more than 100 grassroots sporting clubs and schools across Australia. Hear what it felt like being Jake Edwards back then and right now

At 16 years old, in a bid to complete secondary education, Rugare Gomo petitioned family and friends in Australia to sponsor his relocation from Zimbabwe. Inspired by his grandmother, who was a passionate advocate for education, Rugare went on to complete tertiary studies, and build a life in Australia. Humbled by the generosity of those who enabled him to receive such an education. Rugare saw this as just the beginning, which became the Gomo Foundation. He is joining me tomorrow from 12 noon till 1pm to share his story and remind us that humans are mostly beautiful, generous and caring beings.

We are talking about the incredible impact of kindness and care and how extending some, could save a life.

I feel incredibly thrilled, blessed and absolutely honoured to be joined by football legend and media personality, Tim Watson. We are sharing a very touching and personal story that demonstrates how any person can positively affect someone else without ever knowing. It really is ok, to not be ok and kindness and care certainly does save more lives than we could ever know.

The great Eleanor Roosevelt once said "To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart."

My guest today, certainly has a leadership style like none other. Paul Gueurra, well known Australian CEO is with me where it really is "OK to not be OK". We're talking about good, not so good and downright irresponsible leadership styles that can significantly affect the human condition.

I'll be joined by panel experts Darren Cox and Michael Sena to comment on the travesty of justice around the basic human right to marry the person you love in Australia. We will voice outrage, disbelief and sadness, questioning the legitimacy of Australian legislation - calling out the idea of blatant, home grown homophobia.
