Trying to arrive at firm conclusions about historical events is difficult when we use internet based resources such as Wikipedia and ChatGPT (Artificial Intelligence). Apparently, three members of the Rothschild family were arrested in WWII by the Vichy government and held in custody. Phillipe De Rothschild was released on Hitler's orders. The other two, Phillipe's estranged wife Elisabeth and a tailor's son called Georges Mandel, may or may not have died in captivity. Reports differ as to the exact cause of death. Some say Elisabeth died of typhus in a concentration camp, others say she was bundled into an oven and roasted alive. According to ChatGPT she lived till 1996. George Mandel, also sometimes referred to as Rothschild, was supposedly taken out of his concentration camp into the woods and shot by his guards. There is no evidence for either of these deaths. Neither of these two individuals were important members of the Rothschild dynasty. Elisabeth was only a Rothschild by marriage - and Phillipe had already discarded her. Mandel had been used as a straw man by the French government and was not even a member of the Rothschild banking family. Both people were unimportant to the Rothschild banking dynasty and easily could have been discarded as a matter or expediency.
The two internet based resources I consulted are heavily biased towards the politically correct interpretation of history, that is, pro-Illuminati, pro-Jewish, liberal, left-wing and culturally Marxist. Bias notwithstanding, I was not convinced of claims that Adolf Hitler made any serious challenge to the power of the Rothschild banking dynasty by arresting these three individuals nor was I convinced that they died in German custody.
