As of now, you can get the Demo on either itch io or at Steam. The full game is available on Steam for $8. The price has gone down a couple bucks since I recorded this.

I tagged this as hack n slash, but it's hack n slash in the same way the sorceress in Diablo 2 is "hack n slash". It's seems promising enough. For the price point, worth checking out or watching for a sale probably if it looks cook.

This is a kind of demo/prologue for a yet to be released game. So, going back and re-watching this. I get the feeling I needed to adjust something in the settings because I feel like that part where I was struggling, I was the controls partly. I wonder if the timing was indeed off.

This has a lot of elements going for it. There are elements of a visual novel, but also a rhythm game. Arguably there are RPG elements here too. If you squint real hard you might seem some likeness to adventure games. it's not easy to nail down to a genre.

It's got fantastic music as well as art direction. It's got a pretty good sense of humor. It will not be for everybody for sure, but there is a lot to like there.

This is one I found on Gog, they don't have a page for the full game. Steam has pages for both, but the full game is still not out. What I found on Gamejolt I'm guessing is either an early build of this or of the full game. Either way, there is an early access version there for $3 where as this and the steam one are free.

This one has some elements of Doom at play with different kinds of kills giving you health or ammo.

Instead of talking about the game or the video. Instead of trying to be funny or anything else, I wanted to take a moment to level with the few of you that have been following along. I know it must seem weird that I came out of nowhere, posted pretty much at least a video a day for a couple of months, then basically vanish.

I'm not going away, I'm not stopping the channel. I've not been posting for a lot of reasons. Partly because I've been having some issues with my computer, the bluetooth has been unstable and not working more often then not. Sure, there are plenty of games I can play, comfortably or uncomfortably, with keyboard and mouse, but it's kind of demotivating.

I've also been struggling with some things personally that I don't want to get into. On top of all that, I have been playing games. I've just not been recording them. I spent a ton of time playing Heretic's Fork, I unlocked all the achievements but one. I've also gotten really into LOR (Legends of Runeterra) recently. While I did make a video second video on HF, and may do one on LOR, due to how I due these video, that doesn't matter. I don't edit so playing them for my own enjoyment or even just to feel them out, can't be recorded and shared because at that point I might as well be streaming it rather than recording it. The problem isn't that I've been playing other games that are not intended for recording or I'm not ready to record the video on yet, the problem is the time I spend doing that is time not spent playing and recording other games.

Another thing that has kept me away. I recently rediscovered ganja. For roughly 20 years, I was pretty much a pothead. But until recently I had not smoked for over two years. I ran across an add for some legal bud. That's a whole can of worms, and it's a loophole I fully expect to be closed at some point in the semi-near future. Point being, you can in fact buy weed that is legal on the federal level. Well, I dove back in and dove hard and deep. That particular vice fuels and awakens other vices, and together they've been eating up my time.

So to recap, where have I been? Basically, in short I've been moping about, doing other things, and getting high. I've keep up a very slow trickle of uploads on this channel (I have however remained consistent with my two uploads a week schedule on my other channel) and I still have a handful of videos in the hopper. I'm not promising to get back to doing one or two videos a day here. I'm not even promising I'm going to become much more active anytime real soon. What I am saying is I'm not quitting, I'm not done. I'm just slowing down. The reality is, for me it's just a hobby. I just want to highlight, mostly, indie games. But unless and until I decide I want to take the next step and either learn to edit or pay an editor, this will always just be an unpaid hobby that I feel no obligation toward. This update is basically just a curtsey, for anyone that gives a shit... which is exactly nobody.

So I went back and played it a little more a week or two after I recorded this. I liked it a bit more and it clicked a little better with me. However, the reason the title is the way it is because the Steam store page calls it "Survival" but the title screen in the game says "survivors". And it seems this is not their first game. They have another Yokai art game that comes with some dlc like an "adult" patch.

I didn't look at it too hard, but at a glance it does seem it may be recycled assets or perhaps a totally flipped game. I'll include that link below so you can look for yourself if you wish. I did look other places, didn't find anything, but I'm not 100% confident it's not on itch and perhaps I just missed it. Hard to say with such a generic name as Yokai Art to search for.

The demo is no longer available on Steam. Regular retail is $12 and just released in July. And yeah, not sure why it forced me to play it on monitor two.

It's alright. To be fair, I had no idea I spend nearly as long with it as I did. That's worth something. I don't particularly need to finish it, but I wouldn't mind. Not something I'm in a rush to do, not even sure this made it on my wishlist. But... No, it was not planned that I recently ended my playthrough of Arcade Spirits and in this episode I decided to listen to the Arcade Spirits soundtrack. I could not have planned that if I tried. I'm complaining about the heat, so this was recorded back in July. Last episode we basically redid act one, this time we redo act two, most of it anyway. That's it then? Not quite. I'm recovering from my gunshot wound, but the reputation of Arcade Spirits has yet to recover. However while, "...I believe in coincidences, they happen every day..." I will also note and add the following to the quote, "...but I do not trust coincidences". We know it's been a product of foul play and we pretty much know who is behind it. While I stand behind everything I have said about this title. That I don't think it's fair to say it's overtly "woke" even thought it has some very "progressive" sensibilities. I was fully intending to get the follow up game, Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers. From my understanding, it's more of the same, but this time from the perspective of some regulars. It does take place sometime in the future, after the events of this game. But back on topic, I've decided I'll not be getting it. I read some of the reviews and forum posts. A lot of people complaining about how preachy it got, just heavy handed and hamfisted. Lots of people saying things like, I agree with you, but this feels forced or this feels contrived. Or, while I am on board with your politics and your message, I read visual novels to get away from that stuff. So if even fellow woke types think it's over the top and cringe with it's unnuanced politics and social commentary, I think I'll just not subject myself to that, thank you much.

It's a matching puzzle game, something along the lines of Tetris and Candy Crush having a love child. It could be an alright time wasters. For the price point not much to complain about it.

I just realized the last video I uploaded was a spicy pepper, has it really been four days with no uploads? Mea Culpa!

So it turns out this is a mobile port. I have since gotten the game on my phone and played it a fair amount. It's not the deepest and most engaging card battler ever, but it's not half bad. I more or less steam rolled everything until I got to this pirate. It took me several tries before I realized he had a buff that said the first two damage cards I played every round were reflected back at me. Once I realized that, I progressed through a few more fights and have been stuck at the wolf.

He's actually an early character somewhat. I've come close to beating him a few times, but because it's on my phone, I usually play it when I have time constraints. An hour was not enough time. I may start over and make different card choices and see if I can get past him. Or just play it from home when time is not a factor. But that's the thing, it's not always time that kills me. It's not easy.

It's not bad, but nothing to get too excited about. Probably worth playing, especially because you get a good chunk for free and there is optional DLC.

I almost considered doing a playthrough for this, but have decided against it. To me it seems like it's more than the sum of it's parts. If I take any individual component and analyze it, then it's ok perhaps competent. But the total package, it alright. It's better than merely competent. It's not perfect, but it's decent for the price point.

For the record, it was NOT labor day, my boss called me and was like where are you at. I was like at home, do we not have labor day off? She tells me labor day was next Monday... Oops.
