Every year millions of Muslims and non-Muslims all over the world come together to commemorate, mourn and remember the sacrifice of Imam Hossein, the grandson of the holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who bravely stood against the injustice and tyranny. Considering this important message, in this especial edition of "The Subcontinent" we are going to focus on the potential of the story of Karbala and the Arba'een event in uniting the people of the subcontinent and also, we will look into the obstacles to this process of unification.

Recently a large crowd of religious extremists, including members of Pakistan’s terrorist organizations like Sipah-e-Sahaba, held several consecutive days of rally on the streets of Karachi, chanting anti-Shia slogans and inciting hatred.

The provocation for the recent threatening march was actually the inappropriate comments about the Sunnis respected figures made by a Shia cleric at a recent Muharram gathering in Islamabad which seems to have started a new wave of sectarian violence in Pakistan.

Now in this special edition of "The Subcontinent" we are going to talk about these sectarian acts and their consequences for the Muslims and also we we will focus on the situation of the Shia people in Pakistan and and see why they are under threat.

Also in order to have a better understanding of the never-ending story of historical injustice and violence in Kashmir, we will discuss how this beautiful land, which formerly used to be called “Jannah” or paradise by the South Asian people, turned from heaven to hell.

Maybe you do not know that there are more underage brides in India than any other country in the world. According to UNCIEF, 12 million girls are forcibly married every year, and over 40 percent of these girls are from India.

Shockingly, more than a quarter of Indian girls are married by the age of 18.

In this edition of "The Subcontinent" we will look into different aspects of this controversial issue of child marriages in India including its reasons and consequences.

As energy is considered as the lifeline of economic developments and plays a vital role in making progress, in this edition of “The Subcontinent” we will be talking about one of the important projects of the region in the field of natural gas supply, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline project which is also known as the TAPI pipeline project.

We will also look into the regional competition between India and Pakistan in Afghanistan, where both countries have been doing their best to increase their influence with different strategies, as we see Pakistan has strong a relationship with the Taliban and on the other hand, India is more focused on its soft power among the Afghan people.
